We should have gotten this a long time ago. Makes managing a hot cast iron much easier on the stove. You just have to remember not to leave it on in the oven. Nice accessory!

I understand this is likely because it needs to be easily removable for cleaning, but the looseness can make holding the pan handle a bit of a challenge at times. It's not a dealbreaker, but it's something to be mindful of during use. As long as you are aware of this, it remains an acceptable and useful tool.Despite the slight fit issue, I still give it five stars overall because of the excellent heat protection and the convenience it adds to cooking with cast iron. really works with cast iron pans

The title may seem misleading but trust me as this is my second one, the first one melted from the high heat from our gas range (flame/heat that come around the pan). We used the first one for years on electric stove tops, this never melted during that time frame. My only other complaint is that as the pan heats up the silicone handle softens and can become loose. The fit on our Logde cast iron is good but wish it was a tighter fit. Not only the heat but grease on the handle also makes it easy to come off, without this grease/oil though it would rust, hmm now that I think of it a rusty handle might add to the friction, but I know the wife wouldn't want that. Even though I didn't give it a top rating this is still a great option.

The part Lodge makes for the wedge-shaped handle side doesn't fit -- too big, too loose, too easy to bump it off or lose your grip.This, however, is just right and essential.

I bought the Lodge silicone grip thinking that it would fit well on my Lodge 12" skillet, but it is quite loose. I'm not worried that it is going to come off, but it feels sloppy.The first time I used it, I noticed smoke coming from the grip even though it was not in the flames. I looked closely and was surprised to see that it was burning. I have to be careful to place it far away from the flames to avoid further scorching and melting. I'm disappointed that the brand-new grip is already burned, although it is still functional, since I quickly noticed it smoking.I bought the orange version for visibility. It looks fine and feels durable, but it is a bit oversized. Given how easy it is to remove, it should be easy to clean in the dishwasher. Given its poor fitment and its susceptibility to burning, I think I would get the cheap Amazon branded silicone grip for a better value for the money if I had to purchase another one.I have always valued Lodge products for their excellent made in the USA quality for very reasonable prices. However, all in all, I'm disappointed in the quality of this silicone grip considering that it is a Lodge product.
