What diameter log can this cut?

I regularly cut 6 to 10 inch diameter branches and trees with it while hiking and clearing trails. It's blade's about ~25 inches long. I've sectioned fallen trees that were 16 inches in diameter with it. It takes a while - especially if the trees have started seasoning (are no longer green). Take your time, and bring a lot of water to drink. It's lightweight, so a great tool to use while clearing steep hiking trails. But for sectioning 50 to 75 feet tall 16 inch diameter trees, it's a workout. It makes short work of limbing live trees though. You can cut through fairly large diameter branches in minutes, and 4 to 6 inch branches in about a dozen swift strokes. If you're going to cut a lot of easily approached and trucked-out wood (a quantity that hints at needing a chainsaw)... get a chainsaw. The diameter of the trees you cut will need to be much less than the length of the blade - with at least 3 inches of free blade movement on both sides of the tree... so I wouldn't try to cut anything thicker than 18 inches with it. Will it work on air dried timber (peeled logs) or is it only for green wood?

This will work on various types of wood. Silky blades work on the "pull stroke" & for this model, the recommended cut capacity is 10" in diameter.

What are the size of the teeth on this model?

XL - 3.4 teeth per inch I don't think I've ever seen the 650 offered with anything other than XL teeth. Maybe they assume if you want such a big saw, you'll want aggressive teeth?

Has anyone tried sharpening these katanaboys with a silky sky blade sharpening file ?there's confusing info on if impulse harden steel can be sharpend

I just got the 650. On the front of the package it says it is sharpenable but I haven't looked into which file is needed or how much skill it would take.
