An alternative perspective to the French revolution
A well presented and written book reflecting the thoughts, actions and values of interesting women during a tumultuous period which has often been portrayed through the eyes of men.A great read

Couldn't put it down.
Excellent! Read this to write a paper for graduate school and couldn't put it down. You m does a wonderful job of telling the story of the French Revolution through the memoirs of the women she profiles.

The French Revolution, as written by women...
It is a privilege for us to publish this very fine book by Marilyn Yalom. I personally was thrilled by her telling of the revolutionary tales in COMPELLED TO WITNESS. Some of the memoirists - Germaine de Staël and Madame Roland, to name just two - are famed writers in their own right. Yalom's expressive powers are in every respect up to theirs.TERENCE CLARKEDirector of PublishingAstor & Lenox
