Not as great as S&T 1 but still very througout and helpful
Not as great as S&T 1 but still very througout and helpful. The other reviewers are correct about the answer being right after the question and it being a little bit annoying because you can't help see it even before reading the question. So what I did was cover the answers with sticky notes ahead of time and take them out once I had answered the question. I know some people may think it's annoying, but it's worth it to have the extra practice.

Helps me how to target MBE
Although this is a old book, but the explanation of the questions help me understand how MBE test us about the law knowledge. But it does not have the Civil Pro

It's good, but could be better.
I have both the 1st and 5th additions of these guides. The 1st and 5th are better in that they have actual questions taken from MBEs. In this version, the questions are written by Emanuel. They're just as tough as other questions, but they're not actual MBE questions. The major thing that is both a pro and a con (depending on personal preference) is that the answers are immediately below the question. This is great because there's no flipping back and forth. This is not good because there's really no reason to use answer worksheet in the back to record answers, since most of the time, my eye automatically goes to the answer when I flip the page. I really don't like that set up. I have to use a folded sheet of paper and kind of divert my eyes when I turn to a new page and then slide the paper down to the end of answer D just so I don't see the right answer before analyzing the question on my own.I think this is a good first book to start with. You learn a lot about the law in the answer explanations. With this book, I go through each question and the answer explanation before moving on to the next. After you're done with this book, then go on to the 1st or 5th edition, and use the answer sheet and go through 5-10 questions of the same subject, analyze them, and then go through the answers. These are great study guides to the Bar and have really given me some confidence for the MBE. Also, there are cards included that allow you access to a bank of Civ Pro questions online since this version was written before those were on the MBE. Thank you Emanuel for that!

I spent less than half what most did on bar prep and did great on an exam only 50% of people passed
I passed the Michigan bar exam with a 162 in 2013. I used Themis, and this. I spent less than half what most did on bar prep and did great on an exam only 50% of people passed. Emanuel books are worthwhile.

ok, but get the first book
I used it to study for the most recent bar exam (the CO bar) I'd taken. I passed the bar, the first time, but it was a combination of a lot of different factors that made it possible. I don't like this book as much as the first Strategies & Tactics for the MBE. That first book is AMAZING and helped me pass the TX bar. This book provides additional practice which is good and is a good review of the first book. However, the answers are next to the questions and though the questions are technically "different," some are merely a word or two different or are shorten to highlight a different issue. You get the feeling of deja vu and get the answer right not because you know the issue but because you remembered it from the first book.Again, I definitely recommend the first book; only get this book if you have already used the first book and you are taking a second bar or if you have to take the bar again.

Worth the time and effort.
Bought both of these books when studying for the PA Bar. I recommend starting your MBE studying with working through these books entirely and then moving onto bar course questions. I found the explanations in here incredibly helpful. I honestly think that these books raised my score by at least a couple points.

Good practice
If you feel like you don't have enough MBE questions to practice on or that you need a little variety from Barbri, then this book is for you. It's not like the first strategies and tactics, it's just more questions and longer, fuller explanations sorted by topics. Worth it if you have the time for additional questions.

Some of the law is wrong, so beware.
Not all of these are actual MBE questions. Some of them the author made up, and several of those are wrong. Just as an example, there's one in here that says that to commit a trespass you have to actually have the intent to get on somebody else's property. That is completely not true as you can think it's your property and still commit a trespass, and there are several other questions that hold exactly opposite the way they should, so be wary. I also didn't like the way the answers appear on the same page. When it is set up with proper borders and shading (like Glannon), that is okay, but this book does nothing in the way of separating the questions and the answers, so it is hard to block out the answer when you are working the question. The answers appear different places on every page, so you can't really take a half sheet of paper and cover the answer. The answers should be in the back. For a better book that contains nothing but actual MBE questions, so the law is 100% accurate, you should get the Multistate GOAT book.
