NatruDAO is amazing! I've been feeling so tired and I have two other autoimmune conditions that I couldn't seem to get under control no matter what I did with diet, exercise, medications, supplements. Someone suggested that I may have a histamine intolerance so I read up on it and realized I have all the symptoms so I went looking for a DAO Supplement and although this product only had 56 reviews at the time I purchased it, every review had 5-stars. I read through the reviews since I'm skeptical when something has an abundance of 5-stars reviews but they all seemed to be from real people, so I ordered this product two weeks ago.It comes in a box of 60 tablets and you take one tablet 5 minutes before you have a meal, so you will probably use 2-4 a day depending on your eating habits. Some people have said they break the tablets in half so they get more value for their money. I haven't tried that yet.While this product may seem a bit on the pricey side, it is WELL worth the money. I noticed a huge difference the first day I took it. I started feeling less fatigued and had more motivation within the first 24 hours. After two weeks, I've noticed I'm not as bloated. I sleep better. My skin isn't as dry. My joints have been hurting less. My bowel function is almost back to normal. I brain feels less dizzy and my memory function that was starting to wane is improved. I've gotten more done around the house in the past two weeks than I have in the past four months because I haven't worked all day and then just felt like I needed a nap or that I was in too much pain to do anything. My spouse has commented that I have been in a much better mood and much less irritable.I haven't tried any other DAO supplements, so I don't know if any are comparable, but after using this product with such stellar results, I don't think I would change products unless another one had effects that were just as good but at a lower price.They also suggest eating a low histamine diet for additional support. I haven't gotten that far yet and have been eating regular foods, some high in histamine. I do plan to try low histamine foods as a means to feel even better, but this product seems to work well even when you're eating high histamine foods. Some high histamine foods I've eaten in the past two weeks while using this product include tomato sauce, shrimp, chocolate, egg whites, green peppers, pizza, cake made with wheat flour, ham, sausage, several oranges and orange juice.I know that my review makes this seem like a "miracle supplement" but if you have histamine intolerance, it really is.Now that I have my histamine in check for now, I'll see if the half tablets work and report back after I've had time to fully assess.

I have a form of histamine intolerance in which there are genetic mutations in my DAO and HNMT enzymes, leading to a slower clearance of histamine and allergic reactions upon ingestion of histamine rich foods. Taking one of these shortly before a meal eliminates most of the symptoms. I avoid the worst offenders (ex sauerkraut, cured meats) but other than that I am now able to eat freely with, at worst, mild easily tolerable symptoms.I experimented with higher doses, going up to 3 per meal (6 per day). While my histamine symptoms went from mild to zero, my depression significantly worsened, and I had a constant mild stomach ache. As another review mentioned, this pea DAO enzyme may break down precursors to neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine at higher doses, which could worsen depression. Upon lowering the dose back to 1-2 per day, the side effects went away within a few days.Overall, it's a great help for my histamine intolerance, just watch out for worsening of depression.

Almost went to the emergency room!!!I purchased this product based on a recommendation from my GI specialist, based on a leaky gut test, showing I was low in DAO. I was diagnosed with MCAS, and Histamine Intolerance.Most supplements for straight DAO or beef kidney are quite expensive, on top of all the other supplements. So I chose this for cost.For context, DAO (from porcine) normally has 10,000 HDU's per pill. This has 1,000,000! I honestly figured that because it's plant-based, the HDU's weren't exact equivalents.A few hours after taking only 1 pill, 5 minutes before eating, per the instructions, I felt like my heart was going to explode out of my chest. I called family, and found myself extremely confused. My face started burning, lips tingling, then intense pain. I lost motor control in my facial muscles, as well as speech. I then called poison control, and completely lost my speech. They told me to hang up and call 911.This was a terrible experience. I WISH I would have read the 1 star reviews. Which is why I'm leaving a 5 star, in hopes more will see this.Clearly this supplement works for some people. However, if you are very reactive to foods, due to either histamine intolerance and/or MCAS, be VERY cautious in trying this supplement. While pea shoots do naturally produce DAO, which can help break down histamine, peas are lentils. And many people with MCAS/HIT cannot tolerate lentils as a whole food. Turn it into a supplemt with extremely high levels of the substance, and it may be a recipe for disaster. Proceed with caution!!

As a few others have shared on this site I had a severe allergic reaction to these. I had high hopes based on the ingredient list and the fact they are vegan. I am now out $40 after taking one tablet as I do not know who to contact for a potential refund. I am sure that they work great for some who take them; however, keep in mind that there is the chance for a severe reaction. I am guessing the reaction is from the DAO itself derived from the peas as I do not have a known allergy to the other filler and carrier ingredients listed.Update 8/11: Since I wrote my original review I was able to speak with a representative from the company and my situation has been resolved. They immediately responded to my original inquiry to them. My low stars remain as I had a severe reaction to the product, which is specific to me and my biology; however, based upon other reviews the enzymes are beneficial to others. I just want others to be aware that although rare, a reaction is possible. Customer service was fast to respond, so if you have questions about any of their products do not hesitate to ask.
