Best of the tubes
Great tube style feeder. Our finches prefer these perches to the T style perches. The T style are prone to breaking. These U shaped are very very durable. In our eastern Washington/ North Idaho area we get American Goldfinch, Pine Siskin and lots of other finches. There is often a crowd awaiting a open perch to feed. Nyjer is their preferred seed in this style feeder.Be cautious on choosing a seller tho. I chose Sparkle Garden as the seller on Sept 26 , 2020. They declared my order as “ shipped” and pulled funds. When there was zero movement I questioned them. They responded by admitting the item had not actually been shipped , but their “ shipping department “ had been notified of the sale.18 days later item has yet to be actually shipped.I won’t punish the product for suspect business practices.Buy one you won’t be disappointed , by the feeder !Update: Sparkle Gardening NEVER shipped anything. Plus they continue to advertise this item as available for purchase. Keep this in mind when you choose your seller.

Functional and easy to fill and clean with long bottle brush.
This works great! So, I had reviewed this item earlier and said that the birds were not coming. I took it down and gave up. Well! I was wrong! I recently decided to try again, because I had planted some sunflowers and I saw a few goldfinches coming to eat. When I put the thistle feeder back out, the finches all started eating from it. I guess what I want to stress is, if you put it out and do not have birds feeding, don’t give up. Maybe add a few plants or change the location. Or just leave it longer and give them time to find it. The feeder is easy to fill and clean, which is always a bonus. So I am giving it 5 stars!

Birds love it!
I have two of these feeders. Had a couple others in the past but the bears loved them too and carried them away! Just smiled at the destruction from their teeth. To clean them thoroughly, the perches have to be removed but it's not difficult. We mounted them to a clear plastic plate so the thistle seed doesn't land on the ground - the birds are messy eaters and a bit wasteful. We've had 6 birds feeding from the feeders plus a couple on the plates. Love watching them enjoying their seeds!

Right location is key
Update: upgraded to 4 from 3 stars (original review below)Locating the feeder to a tall holly bush did the trick! Now a family of goldfinches and other small birds feed regularly. I've actually had to refill the feeder! So I've learned that the key is to find the right location; leave the feeder untouched for about a month and if there is still no action try another location. The previous locations were too open; the smaller birds were often scared away by larger birds (e.g., cardinals) who can to check out the feeder. Hanging it in a holly bush was ideal. Once, a squirrel came to it but after a frustrating few minutes of not finding anything to eat, it has never come back.Original review:As with other reviews, I got no traffic on this feeder for weeks. I switched to different poles but, nada! Finally, I hung it on a tree branch in a thick, tall holly bush and two yellow green birds visited. Twice. That's it. I have not had to refill the Nyler seeds in a month.Several times, larger birds (e.g., cardinals) and even smaller birds (e.g., finches; nuthatches) would land, and immediately take off to the other feeders.I'll just leave it in the bush and hope the little birds tell their friends.

Mixed feelings about this
I left this out with fresh nyjer seed for 4 weeks and nothing. One American goldfinch gave it a shot and left immediately. Are the ports unappealing? I tried moving it to multiple locations. I have no problem getting finches - we have dozens on our deck eating sunflower chips every day. So why no interest in this? It has been a mystery. I took the advice of another reviewer and took a screwdriver to each hole to round them out to be bigger and am now trying sunflower chips in there to see if I can get any interest by any birds in that seed. Hopefully it's not a complete waste of money.

Finches LOVE this feeder!
It has six feeding holes and perches. It is quick and easy to fill. I put a dome over it to keep the snow and rain off - Minnesota resident. The minute I refill the feeder, all six perches are occupied. It is exactly what I hoped it would be - a finch magnet.

Thistle seed feeder
Gift for brother. Used similar feeder at home for years. Very good for niger and very small seeds. Better than feeders that used sunflower, cracked corn etc
