Worked out great.
I had some concerns when I ordered the unit but it worked great. It says for "up to 15 quarts" but It worked fine with my 21 quart pressure canner. I'd also read that it takes a long time to cool down (which it does) and was concerned that temperature control would be a problem. But that wasn't an issue either. I dialed it down significantly at first once it reached the desired temperature and gradually turned it up to med/high. Careful monitoring and adjustments during the processing yielded great results.

Underwhelming
Sturdy but does not get hot. Can't saute with the burner and can barely boil. Will sit with an empty pan heating to sear anything, usually takes about 30 minutes to heat up. But, barely gets the pan over 200 degrees. Couldn't even make a cheese sauce with it. Works well if you need a large heated area with low temps. Otherwise, just takes up space.

High quality, but uses a 220 outlet
I wanted a large and high wattage heating element to use for canning. I do not like using my glass top stove for that. This was just what I needed, except for one huge problem: it needs a 220 outlet! We can use the one in our basement, but will have an electrician put one in the kitchen. So, for anyone needing a higher voltage and larger heating element, this one is really nice, not flimsy like most smaller ones!

220 volts required
This works great to bring large quantities of liquid to a boil. I will boil 7 to 8 gallons at a time. It will take almost an hour to get to the boil but Ian in no hurry.

One Star
Came in a broken box, with a 1/2 stripped cord and a dent. :(

anemic but reliably so
takes forever to heat up; more than an hour to bring 3gal of water to a weak boil and about 15 minutes to get a cast iron skillet hot enough to cook an egg.

Works great with heavy bottom pots
Works great with heavy bottom pots. Boils 4 gallons room temp water in about an hour at 800ft above sea level.

but looks like it will work well
Haven't used yet, but looks like it will work well.

Good quality hot plate. It works well with my pressure canner. Its fairly easy to regulate the temperature and after using it a few times you will know more about where to set the dial for various stages of your canning. Its well built. Much better than worrying about potential issues with a glass top cooktop, and it solves the issue when you have an aluminum pressure canner and an induction cooktop. You need to have a 20 amp plug for your 240 volt circuit. (It only draws 9 amps, but they have choose to supply it with a 20 amp plug.) The fan is rather noisy while running, and you should run it for a while after you have shut off the burner, as will help to cooling the internals while the hot canner depressures on the burner. I'm very glad when I can turn the unit off.
