I can't remember, but I think it is the center post. Just connect the ground to it and touch a 12v positive to any of the others to see if it lights.

Posted power is "12V/24V, 20A" does this rate at 40A for 12V?

These are LED lamps. Their load is in milliamperes

will these light up properly only running 5volts through them?

Since they are LED lamps, I doubt they would work at only 5v.

What guage are the wire leads ?

If I had to guess, they are probably 18 gauge. They don’t have to be any larger than that. Even 18 gauge is large for the load.
