Touring On A Folding Bike: A manual on bike touring with folding bikes

I’d not come across this author before. I enjoy reading about peoples cycling journeys with the humour and enthusiasm writers are able to bring.Sadly this book is not a cycling memoir littered with funny antidotes. But it is a practical guide to actually go cycle touring. It is full of practical tips and useful advice, from different types of accommodation to stay in (or wild camping if there isn’t anywhere) to how to keep yourself clean whilst on the road without a shower insight.Any arguments you can think of (too unfit, no experience, too much like hard work) are quickly batted away leaving you thinking “hey I can do this”.This definitely wasn’t the book I was expecting. But it has fired up my enthusiasm to try cycle touring. It’s a really good practical guide with personal insights and solutions. I’d highly recommend it and you never know you might be inspired to give it a go.

I have been following Gianni on his Brompton Traveller channel on YouTube for some time. His amazing journeys around the world are inspiring for anyone with an interest in bicycle touring. When I saw he had written a book I just had to get it. I'm so glad I did, because this well written, easy to read book is full of useful information and advice gained from real experience by the author on his many trips.It is the great Brompton riders, like the author, that inspired me to buy my own Brompton and I'm so glad I did. Next step is to start some serious touring on it following the advice contained in this wonderful book.Very highly recommended to anyone interested in cycling, touring or Brompton.

I've been a subscriber to 'The Brompton Traveller' channel on YouTube for some time and have enjoyed the many accounts of long-distance touring there. This book is built on the experiences of those journeys and, in a straightforward way, presents his ideas about how to prepare for similar trips. The book is very readable and, for me, contains the appropriate level of detail required to make a success of similar journeys.

Well written book which covers all the details you need to know, and also several that you probably never thought of but really should have done! Gianni has done many long trips on his bike, and the knowledge shows. He also has the skills as an author to share what he knows

A very practical and thoughtful bike-touring guidebook based on hard-earned and insightful personal experiences.

After facing some of the logistical challenges with my current setup (a recumbent trike- superbly comfortable but extremely difficult to fly with to places I want to tour), Gianni’s YouTube videos and this concise and well-written book have convinced me to buy a Dahon folding bike for some of my future tours. Highly recommended.

Es macht Spaß, die Tipps und Tricks sowie Erlebnisberichte zu lesen. Ich bekomme richtig Lust, mein Brompton zu beladen und loszuradeln.Toller Gedanke aus dem Buch: wieso muss jede Radwanderreise jeden Kilometer geradelt werden, wenn man das Brompton auch zusammen falten kann und den Berg auch durch den Tunnel mit der Bahn „bezwingen“ kann 😉?

Gianni is not only a great film maker, but also a very talented author. If you are interested in bike hiking this book is for you.
