I made this valet with a slim, low profile. Finished buttery smooth. The joinery on this box is miters with Hardwood miter keys which have a dual purpose in adding both a decorative element as well as making the miter joint stronger. I hand selected this suede fabric for this box. This lining is upholstered so that your items comfortably sit on a cushioned surface. I've developed a custom, furniture-style upholstery technique for my boxes which results in a more luxurious feel than just lining the box bottom with material. Finished with a variety of products to enhance the grain as well as provide a high-shine appearance. Finishing is the most variable and potentially complex part of woodworking. I easily spend the majority of time in my builds in finishing. Many stages... many products are involved in order to achieve what you see in my final products.
