The Search for Treasure (Geronimo Stilton and the Kingdom of Fantasy #6): Volume 6

My son is a big fan of the Kingdom of Fantasy series. I think it's a great start to fantasy fiction for the little ones. While we both enjoyed this book, it does feel that the series is starting to lose some of its original charm.I think one of the criticisms is the lack of any stable characters other than Geronimo himself. In earlier books, Scribblehopper stuck around for a few books, and there the usual royals with Blossom and Thunderhorn. All of those characters are omitted for entirely new characters. Central to the new ensemble is Blue Rider, an arrogant knight who's self-inflating remarks make you wish George RR Martin had written the series in the hopes he would be killed off. I wish I could say that he learns the error of his ways and becomes a more humble character... but that moral seems to have been overlooked.The plot itself is not as engaging as book 5, it is very one dimensional and gets dragged on.All that said, it's still very readable. If you have been brought along through 5 books, you'll finish this one just fine. No doubt you'll still keep on going through book 7.The usual Geronimo Stilton features keep this book worthwhile. The artwork is enjoyable, and the stylized fonts of select words still make it great for engaging for young readers. My son has always been fond of the maps, and there are still a good handful of those too.It's the weakest book in the series, hopefully #7 turns it around.

some kids love to read. they will read anything and or prefer reading to anything else. If your kid is not one of those kids I would recommend this book. Good story and a visual treat.

My son is 9 years old and has been reading the Geronimo Stilton books for over a year.They are a brilliant way for young readers to develop a love of reading and nurture their imaginations. The pictures are so engaging and my son is constantly running in to show me and tell me whats happening. My son went from being a VERY reluctant reader to a boy who devours books faster than I can keep up. He now reads more advanced chapter books but still goes back to these over and over.
