Frost Protek Plant Cover: Large, White

I bought this product because I saw many fellow gardeners use this lightweight material to protect their in-ground seeds or seedlings from birds and other critters. I presume it works well and my less than stellar rating for this product is on the uninformative description provided here and on the package.While the picture of a woman holding this cover over a large flower plant may give the impression that this plant cover comes in a large sheet, it in fact opens up to a dome shape structure with drawstrings to tighten (shown in some other photos). The package identifies it as "Large Round" and quotes the dimension to be 36x24 in (91x60 cm). I have no idea what those numbers mean because this product is not rectangular. Instead the circumference of the dome is about 110 in and from the edge to the tip of the dome is about 40 in. I guess maybe the dimension provided on the product package (not on the site) represents how big of a plant it could cover but nothing is said to that effect on the package other than it fits "up to barrel size pots".Anyway, I bought the product under the impression that it is a large flat rectangular sheet but it is not. All I can say is buyers beware.Update on 8/26/10: For the purpose of covering up garden plots for critter or frost protection I found  Dalen HG25 25-Foot Harvest Guard Row Cover  to be more suitable and economical. Same material but Dalen row cover comes in a sheet 5' wide and 25' long.

Works great to overwinter more delicate plants in an unheated garage. I have two large boston ferns I did not want to compost at the end of the season. So far the plants have done well in the garage near a window covered in these wraps. The soil stays moist longer and the plants are doing fine. And this is Michigan.

Here in Zone 8-9 we have had several below 40degree early mornings. These covers are easy to apply, quick to remove, and so far have held up well through 3 separate uses, several days of high wind.

I bought these along with the Frost Protek bags, these work for the larger and non conforming plants very well. Small hint, for the younger crowd, buy some old fashioned clothes pins to hold these on.The CabinetMan

Easy to put on and worked great. Tried to order more and other sizes an out of stock so that must mean something.

If you have large plants you need to cover from the freeze, then this might be just what you need. I bought 5 of them.
