I wanted to add storage to my Sit-on-top Kayak and I bought this through Amazon. I arrived quickly and installation was easy. You will need to cut a hole in the Kayak. They include sheet metal screws to install this with, which I am sure works fine. But I opted to use nuts-n-bolts. I also added silicone to help with the waterproofing. The finished product looks great and works fine. The hatch however is not water tight. I mean it stands up to a lot of splashing, but not to being submerged. I ran off and left my Yak in the rain and the hatch got covered up by rainwater. By the time I realized my mistake, the Yak was a third full of water. But I dont use my Kayak as a submarine and the resistance to splashing is just fine, so I wont take any stars away.

The product installs very easily. I just drilled 3/8" holes around the pattern I traced from the gasket and then trimmed the hole to fit with a razor. Includes all the screws to mount it as well. Installed into the storage area of a Perception Hook 10.5 which is the same mold as a Perception Sound 10.5. I have not yet tested this on the water but I expect everything should be fine as far as wash over. I have kept in mind that the bag is NOT waterproof, so I will probably just stick a dry bag in it. The D-rings come with machine threaded screws you will need nuts or different hardware all together to mount those ( I didn't need them anyways).

I was pleased with the price, but after opening the box I noticed cracks on EVERY mounting hole. The cracks propagate from the inside edge and extend approximately 8mm past the outside edge of each hole. It doesn't look like this item will keep water out, but I am hoping the provided foam gasket will do its job and then some.

Used to replace another hatch with a lot more screw holes. Was concerned the gasket would allow leakage as I did not close up the old holes. Surprised to see that the gasket and hatch sealed the old holes. Although not easy the bag can be removed if for some reason you happen to take on internal water. Overall great product.

Rugged and works well as a rear bulkhead hatch on my girlfriend's Pelican 80 NXT kayak. Seems waterproof enough even though it has a relatively thin rubber gasket on the inside. It came with the normal water proofing foam ring for the outside. All I'd recommend is some marine glue to seal everything.

I’ve not taken it out yet to really put it to the test but by pouring water on it showed great potential! I like it better now than how it originally was due to having more space and such now. Also I plan to spray water resistant spray on it to help even further the protection.
