This is the perfect fastener for thick wood members in a high corrosion zone, such as my dock repair. The no pre-drilling saves hours of labor when putting in hundreds of fasteners. We use an impact screw gun 18V battery style and it worked perfectly. I like to use the hex head wherever possible because less stripping of the head than with inner type screw heads such as Torx or Phillips. This fastener does exactly what it is designed to do. The best part is that on Amazon vs. local hardware or lumber store these are half the cost. A truly excellent value for a well made and well designed product.

I have used 100's of these PowerLags to screw in sheet metal from an old grain silo into 6x6s. I only drilled a small pilot hole (had to get through the sheet metal) to get things started. I did not have an issue with a single lag holding tight. I would have have purchased these again.

Great for outside jobs using 4x4 or 4x6 pressure treated lumber, for projects like retaining walls. Beats pounding in spikes which always irritates my elbow tendonitis. The hex heads don't strip and can easily be driven in with a good powerful battery operated drill or hammer drill. Self tapping so no pilot holes are needed. Probably a little more expensive than other options (spikes, galvanized lag bolts, etc) but well worth the extra $.

I love using Spax fasteners. I'm a remodeling contractor and couldn't find this specific length at my supplier. These are very strong and have a great hold into the lumber. This particular type , the green ones, are ACQ rated for use in pressure treated lumber
