PENGUIN Nyxia Unleashed: The Nyxia Triad

Get the hardback you know you want to
I found the first book by accident in a book shop waiting for a delayed train and purchased on the cover description alone. The first book was very easy to read and exciting but heavily revolves around engagement with the lead character emmett. The second book hard cover repeats this approach but also intersperses a handful of chapters from the other character's perspectives which will hopefully be developed more in future books in the series and also changes the setting from just on board the spaceship to also now on the alien planet. There are some original ideas here and some really engaging characters however sometimes as the reader you will have to suspend your belief that a "tribe" of streetwise kids trained up as junior super soldiers/miners could be so incredibly naive. The alien vs corporation vs human children triad (sic) is nicely played out and I can predict more than 3 volumes in the whole series. Just hope I don't have to wait too long as there are a lot more ideas in book 2 that will need resolution. Oh and don't wait for paperback. You need to read it like yesterday if you enjoyed the first one. Most enjoyable sci fi I've read since picking up Jack Campbell Geary books.

Really good
Dear Amazon,Stop providing me with books in a single series from different publishers. The size is all wrong and it makes me wanna smack you between the eyes with the newly purchased book!Onto the book, book 2 was way more engaging than book 1 because the author decided to give the characters more emotions and backstories. They end up becoming each others families, instead of just being names on a board. More cunning plans and strategies. The Nyxia manipulations still amaze me. Can't wait for book 3.

A Fair Read
First things First : This book was fair (Not bad but fair) and no offense but I found the first book more intriguing than the second , Emmett and his Genesis friends just roamed the whole Eden just knowing about the cultures and traditions of the Adamites (Later Imago) , I found only the last couple of chapters interesting and addictive and the fight sequence , but although the book was good , didn't let me down , not a waste of MONEY !💰

Who is the enemy now?
Let me start by saying I liked this one. I don’t think I liked it more than the last book, my gut reaction is a 3.5. But I also DO think I liked it more than the last book because we aren’t in routine simulations anymore and there is so much more to see and learn. It was so great to finally get down to business on the planet surface, see some relationships grow and twist and burn and rage and...damn. Getting answers to the fallout of the final chapters was more painful than I imagined. But mix that with a new world to explore, lots a monsters and aliens, a healthy dash of shade and political intrigue, and this was pretty darn good for a centerpiece of a trilogy. The next book is going to be the true test of how I feel about the whole series. I sort of wish it were here already. That next cover is glorious! And I think the author has such a great handle on the plot and all the twists and surprises that we will be in for a delicious finale. So 4 stars it is! Can’t wait for the next one!
