Beyerdynamic EDT 770 VB Ear Pad Set

So I just bought these EDT 770VB pads recently and instantly noticed a huge difference in quality compared to a pair I bought over a year ago. Im a big fan of beyer pads but these just dont look anything like the older pair which I have bought several times over the years.These new ones are very poor quality. Firstly they dont even look black. They are more like grey. All of the materials used both front and back are different and have also been poorly glued together.See my pictures for comparison. Old pair on the left. New pair on the right.I have contacted beyerdynamic regarding these issues and they have confirmed that these new pads are indeed using different materials and are now made in the Republic of China whereas the older ones where made in the European Union.

bought these at half price through amazon warehouse, the rating was excellent and they arrived in the original packaging, factory freshpretty easy to put on -- especially if you watch a youtube video -- HIGHLY RECOMMEND using a hairdryer or blow heater to soften plastic rim seali hadn't realised just how compressed my original cups had become over two years, until i got the new ones and saw i had lost nearly a centimetre of depth -- which had quite an effect on the sound stage in my DT 770'sanother nice aspect to this is the replacement foam covers which lie over the drivers -- really glad i got those since the originals had worn out with wear and tearso yeah, almost feels as if i have a new set of headphones... the base model being very well burnt in now, but with a refreshed acoustic chamber

I hadn't realised quite how soft and compressed the foam in the original ear pads had become after 10 years of use and a few washes. This new set has made a massive difference, not only to comfort but also, to my surprise, to the sound. I guess that's because my ears are now a few extra mm's further away from the drivers, back where they should be, resulting in an improved sound space. Whatever the reasons, I'm chuffed as hell. They do take some patience to put on, best described as 'gentle force'. Search the web and you'll find a couple of good instructional videos. This is a genuine Beyer product and contains the ear pads plus the round foam inserts that cover the drivers. All in all, well worth the money.

Genuine replacement ear pads, basically identical to the original item but black. I bought these purely as an aesthetic replacement for the standard silvery-grey ear pads on a new set of cans. Can't fault them, easy to fit, identical to the original pads except for the colour.

These have given my very old pair of DT770s a new lease of life. Can’t think why I didn’t replace them sooner!
