Good Entry Point For New Readers
This is a good entry point for those readers interested in an alternate history of the Pacific war. It's chapters have been culled from a longer running series but a new reader won't be at a loss. It is packed with action carrier engagements, air to air dogfights, convoys under fire, marine landings and plenty of ground pounding combat. The historical characters are true to what is known of them and the actions and decisions made are believable. If you enjoy this one give the main Kirov series a go.

Very confusing
I have not read any of the Kirov series but thought this could be an interesting read anyway. It's full of interesting WW2 detail that I did not know but it is also full of Kirov detail, that I know nothing about, and to my mind that makes the whole thing too confusing and if you have read the monumental Kirov series why would you want to read this? Not sure what audience this book is aimed at. Remove the Kirov and it would be riveting alternate history but as it is it's not for me.
