Great ideas with a simple touch
I'm of fan of Joan Elliott and this collection did not disappoint. Many of the designs are simple enough to do in a day and they all have that special flair that she puts into her designs. Like many of her other books there are tips and ideas with how-toos on using the patterns for a variety of other projects; place-mats, cookie tins, and photo album covers to name a few.And as much as I loved perusing through her book, I couldn't give it five stars for the one thing that did bother me, she had some repeats from other books. Most of the patterns were originals, or at least I have not come across them before. But some I have seen. Like the Chinese dragon and coy fish are each from two different collections, so I would have to suggest paging through this first so as to not be purchasing a collection you may already have.

A New Favorite!
When I purchase a cross stitch book, if I get even one really good design in it, I consider the book to be worth the money I spent on it. This book is worth the money I spent and then some! I like, and plan to make, almost every design in the book. I am planning to use the designs I stitch as small pictures to hang on the wall or for bookmarks, ornaments, pin cushions, etc, rather than greeting cards, bur these designs are versatile enough to allow them to be used in almost anything. I particularly like the sampler-style designs, but there are too many good ones to list. I am more than happy with this book and am so glad to have found it. I would encourage anyone who enjoys small projects to purchase this book. I don't think you will be disappointed!

Cross-stitch cards for every occasion
This cross-stitch book of cards to make has so many beautiful patterns to stitch for every occasion. David and Charles books are always beautifully illustrated and this one is no exception. Cards range from larger ones to smaller with easier graphs. If you're a stitcher who likes to make cards, you should enjoy this book.

Too hard of patterns
The patterns vary between hard and easy but it is a good book.

Cross stitch cards
Purchased this book because I have been including hardanger in cards and wanted to branch out...this seemed like the perfect way to do that. I was a little disappointed in all the children's patterns but I really liked a number of patterns like the ones on the cover. Have already made one of the items & really like it. These are sized perfectly for card inserts.

Some great card ideas
Some really beautiful designs that I am looking forward to using. I especially enjoy the card samples and their embellishments. She has some masculine designs as well as some get well cards. I really like the Happy holiday series.
