The small/slim design does NOT work for connecting an Xbox to an Apple Studio Display. I saw some mixed reviews from other people and decided to give it a try- I'm getting the same experience as the other person would said it only renders at 640x480 and centered on the screen. Unfortunately it doesnt not appear you can purchase the older/larger model which reportedly works.

To those of you trying to hook up an Xbox or PlayStation to an Apple Studio display, do not get the small and slim model. It didn’t work.The slim adapter will only allow the Xbox to output 480p and it centered the image on the screen. Very strange experience.
