I purchased this new Funky Chef Instant Read Meat Thermometer so I could have an extra in the RV. I put it through a few tests to make sure all functions worked. This one is a bit different than my other one so I did have to search for how to use it. There is a handy Reference Guide with instructions in several languages as well as recommended temperatures for various meats. It did not however tell me that I had to remove the plastic from the battery so if you are as handy as I am, take heed. It turns on just fine with the protective plastic removed. Also there are 2 ways to turn it off and on. One is via the buttons on the face of the unit as well as by pulling the probe away from the body to turn it on. Closing it turns it off, handy!Yesterday was bread baking day so I used it to verify my Artisan loaf was 190 degrees when I took it out of the oven. Perfect and very responsive. I tested it against my other one and they seem to agree. Tonight was chicken on the BBQ and it worked very well there too. The 4 ½ inch probe is long enough to keep from burning my hands and the LED display is large enough for my old eyes to see very well. It comes in a great little box and would make a very nice gift. The Red color will help me find it in case it falls to the bottom of my drawer.I am very happy with my Funky Chef Thermometer and look forward to more products by this company.

I really liked this meter
I really liked this meter. But then it stopped working. In frustration, I opened the back, then put it back. Simple..Then it worked, But has a rattle which I don't mind as it is now working.
