Great While They Worked
Update: Could not live without the second Litter Robot. It saves time and money (as it conserves litter) and the kitties enjoy having freshly sifted litter with each go. Soooo, broke down and bought another. Wow, this one is quieter than the previous two. The remaining old one will be replaced when needed. :)A word of advice, use a good-quality clumping litter. You will save a bundle on litter in the long run. The best all-around performers are Dr. Kelsey's Precious Cat, all of them.First review:From time to time I rescue and foster kitties, so I purchased two of these in 2007 to compliment the other boxes. Most of the time, we had only two or three cats. I had two issues with these. 1) They are difficult and time consuming to clean. I never felt they were as clean as the regular boxes were after cleaning. The best way to clean them is with a power washer. They also required many hours in the sun to completely dry. If this is your kitties only litter receptacle, where do they go? The company needs a better design, one that allows for the globe to be completely disassembled for scrubbing, sanitizing, and drying. 2) More than two years ago they began exhibiting performance issues. I visited a website that addressed these concerns. I replaced both globes at $169 each and then a PC board at $49-expensive. Still, neither worked reliably, if at all. I either manually turned the globe or hand scooped (awkward). If left powered on, we ran the risk of the globe ending askew to the degree the cats could not use it at all and accidents occurred. Alas, the only thing left was to replace the base unit at another $239--pricey repairs for a $369 unit. Bottom line, if you buy new litter boxes every month, then this would probably be an acceptable investment. Otherwise, you're just throwing away your money. I am going back boxes...old school. See my review on the sifting box.

Great!
The Litter Robot has made litter box cleaning so easy! It also keeps my the smell contained since it rotates and falls into the drawer below. My cat had no problem making the change to this litter box. I love just being able to pull open the drawer, pull out the standard, kitchen garbage bag, replace the bag and I'm done! No more scooping! The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is because occasionally it doesn't seem to sensor that my cat has gone and doesn't cycle. I then press the cycle button on the front of the robot. Not sure if this is a problem with all of them or if it's just mine.I highly recommend this product!

Buy with CONFIDENCE!11
I would like to post a review for the Litter-Robot... If 5 Stars is the maximum I can give, then that's not enough stars!!!Seriously!!!If you are having any reservations about buying this product, I'd like to put your mind at ease... First off, I feel they have the BEST Customer Service of any company that I've ever dealt with... I've had issues, on and off, (especially when I first got the product) that required several calls so I could be walked through the trouble shooting process... I even received a call back from the company owner once who personally took the time to walk me through the steps... I'd like to see Bill Gates call someone back when they are having a problem with one of his products...Back in 2008, I bought The Litter-Robot for my store so my 4 cats could use it... I didn't want there to be any offensive litter box odor in my store... Prior to using The Litter-Robot, I had a conventional litter box, with a hood, that cost me around $30 to $40... I used Fresh Step clay litter... I would wait until the 21 pound bags would go on sale for $6.99 plus tax and stock up... I would put an entire bag of litter into the box because my 4 LOVE to eat and therefore would make many trips to the litter box, which meant that I would be scooping what seemed like every hour... After about 5 or 6 days, the litter was totally wet and smelled and had to be thrown out and a new fresh bag used... I would use, roughly, 5 to 6 bags of litter a month, at a cost of, roughly, $8 a bag, with the tax... You do the math...Then, I saw an ad for The Litter-Robot... I was concerned about the cost, but decided to give it a try because I was tired of scooping out my litter box so many times per day... With The Litter-Robot, I switched to Fresh Step's clumping litter... I buy that when it's on sale, too, for about $18 for a 42 pound container... The container lasts me about 4 to 6 weeks, saving me LOTS of $$$ on litter...The Litter-Robot I bought in 2008 needed to be replaced for I kept having an issue with it, and being that it was under warranty for 18 months they gladly replaced the product for me back in 2009, after about a year of use... My 4 cats were happily using that replacement Litter-Robot for 3 and 1/2 years when the motor got old and started malfunctioning... I paid about $350 for The Litter_robot, initially, for I bought the additional protector and fence when I purchased it... So, it ended up costing me roughly $8 per month, and has saved me HUNDREDS of dollars in litter cost... I know when you think about plunking down a lump sum of $350 it seems like a lot, but when you break it down over the life of the product, it is so worth the cost... Also, when the motor died, I only ended up needing the base unit because the globe I had was in perfect condition, so for $210 I bought just the base, refurbished, with an extended warranty... So, now this refurbished base is covered for 36 months... I'm a happy camper...I can't say enough great things about this product, and Mickey from Customer Service could not possibly be any nicer to deal with, or more patient... I am so glad I found this product... Once you buy one, you will NEVER want to go back to scooping litter ever again... And, there's never an odor... Hard to tell that there's even one cat here, let alone 4...BUY THIS PRODUCT WITH CONFIDENCE!!! You will be glad you did...Forgot to mention---> 2 of the 4 cats that use this litter robot are male, and one weighs 22.5 pounds, and the other is 18 pounds, and neither one of them has a problem fitting into the globe and then turning around in it...

I cannot give this enough stars. This is the greatest product in the world for a cat. I recommend this to everyone. It may seem pricey but its well worth it. Think of it this way... every day (or almost every day) you need to clean the litter, scoop the poop, and then sometimes it smells.Well with this thing, I clean it every 2 weeks and it never smells... neverGood Job Litter-Robot these need to be in every cat household

If it's built to last, I'll buy a second one.
I am only giving the unit four stars currently because I do not feel it would deserve five until it proves to be a lasting product. That said, it works. It works really well, actually. Three of my cats use it with regularity. My largest cat has not been seen to use it yet (Litter Robot does make an LRIII that has a larger opening). It comes in two parts, so there really isn't even real assembly required. Set up was quick. My cats took to it immediately. Notably, they're used to Litter Maid automatic boxes already, so the moving parts and motorized sound wasn't something new for them. Honestly, if it proves to last then I will likely order a second unit, if not an LRIII. This plus a litter mat keeps the litter well contained. There's virtually no tracking outside of the sphere, and a mat catches the rest. It's neat and tidy. Personally, I'm asthmatic. Ammonia is an attack trigger for me. Scooping litter is extremely problematic due to that. This makes cleaning up after kitty a breeze.
