Good basic common words for baby
This is helpful as my German isn't very good. My husband is better, and I want my daughter to grow up hearing (and hopefully understanding and speaking) other languages as they're so much easier to learn when you're young. Really, my only disappointment is I wish it had more animals. But it's a lovely book full of helpful words. I get sick of looking things up online all the time.If you, like me, are wondering what the difference is been the toddler version and the preschool and think you may as well get the version with over 300 words, I will say I got the toddler in German and preschool in Spanish and they are Not identical but with more words. The focus really is different based on intended age. Both are helpful to me, as I'm trying to teach my daughter at least the basics in both languages (and obviously English) but once she's a bit older (currently not quite a year) the toddler book will be Much easier for her to look through/read once she can. There are more words per page in the preschool version and even some matching "games" kind of like a workbook. Both books are great, but if you're deciding which to get I'd start with the one for your child's current age and get the more advanced version later. I think it would be worth purchasing both.

An excellent resource to learn German
An excellent resource to learn German. Having pictures paired with English and German translations of each word is very helpful. What's more, any good German language book should have the article before each word (Example: "Dog" should be translated as "der Hund"). This book has all of the articles, which makes this book a no brainer for the learning child. It also shows a diverse range of concepts in the book, to give a child a well rounded early understanding of German or English. Recommended!

Only useful if you already speak German
This is not for language learners. It would be appropriate in a bilingual household where one or both parents are speaking German with children. The choice of words is bizarre (one two-page spread contains a mish-mash of nouns (such as "frustration") with adjectives (such as "sad"). What on Earth would possess someone to mix up these two parts of speech? This was clearly not developed by an educator. There is no pronunciation guide, so you're on your own to figure that out (or ask Google) if you don't already speak German. The words are given in isolation, with no speech context. So, that mish-mash of nouns and adjectives all relating to emotion? There is no "I am..." or "Are you..." phrase to accompany them, so you can't actually say anything. Further, those adjectives are given ONLY IN THE MASCULINE, when German has THREE genders. So, 51% of the population will not find out how to say the adjective that applies to them, and no one will find out how to actually apply these words in speech. If you are a household with a German speaker, you could use this as a visual prompt with your kids. Otherwise, this is utterly useless. Returning.

Cute
My son is almost 2 and I am German and my husband is American. This book is cute and great to encourage toddlers 2 say words in both languages. However, some of the photos are strange choices for the words the are supposed to symbolize and seem confusing for a child. But over all a cute little book.

Not super accurate
It is an educational book but some of it is incorrect.

PERFECT dual language learning tool
We’ve had this book twice (toddlers rip things apart, guys!), and it is HIGHLY effective in not only teaching our daughter our second language, but entertaining and engaging her. Before we bought the second one, it had gotten to the point where she was literally carrying the well-loved and torn pages around, asking us to read her scraps.Silly anecdote, but it perfectly illustrates how this book engages little ones to enjoy their early education. I’ve already had the baby version, and I plan on getting the Kindergarten one in a few years here. This is genuinely a PERFECT dual language learning tool.

I totally love that it has the article for everything
EXACTLY what I needed and was looking for. I needed to broaden my vocabulary and this works well to learn simple words. I totally love that it has the article for everything! I hate finding books like this and they don't have even that small detail (which is really a big deal!).

How is it possible to mess up twice in one book
I ordered English / German. Cover says English / Polish but the content is English / Japanese.I have a bad feeling about this.

bad translations
I bought this for my son, as he wants to learn my native language. But many of the translations are really bad, so I cannot recommend this book for someone wanting to learn the Dutch language! Find a better book.

Bit pricey.
Good book for teaching German to babies but a bit pricy for a paperback book!

Packed with colors and words. Nice layoutI purchased the paperback not the board book. I felt the price difference was too much.
