Stay stylishly secure! ๐
The Smoked Goldeye Zip Tie Shirt Stay Sock Garter features a zipper closure and an adjustable tension range from 2 to 20 inches, accommodating all heights. Its lightweight all-plastic design eliminates concerns about metal allergies, while the nylon zip tie offers five lock positions for a secure grip on various fabric thicknesses. Although it requires some dexterity to clip on, a helpful video guide is available, and it comes with a 1-year manufacturer's warranty.

The advantage of these shirt stays are that they are plastic, which means no problems walking through a metal detector. The disadvantages are that the rigging design is awkward and requires dexterity and patience. I could overlook that if the elastic were more robust. One pair is not sufficient enough to adequately manage a shirt. The elastic should be thicker.

A Substantial Step Towards Better Shirtstays
I have worn shirt stays for most of my adult life, whether it been in a military uniform or professionally, and have experienced a variety of different types - some working better than others. I understand that these stays are meant to be a substantial improvement over conventional shirt stays, and I believe there are a few ways in which they are. What I liked about the zip tie shirt stays is that, as promised, the grip to the shirt/socks is second to none. The zip tie system does produce a superior hold, and after wearing them all day through multiple environments (office chair, meetings/dining, reclining, walking, lifting, getting in and out of a lifted truck, driving) I am confident that they will not slip off. I was also pleased to see that the superior grip does not damage clothing.I found the elastic used to be consistent with other shirt stay brands, and the length of the elastic to be sufficient for a man of 6'4". The adjustment is easy and I didn't have any slippage. The stays were nice and light, and I felt they were less noticeable in terms of feeling, than comparable products. The clasps themselves are made out of a smooth plastic that was comfortable to wear and did not irritate my skin or remove the hair on my legs. There was adequate tension in the elastic to keep my shirt tucked in well. What I felt needed some improvement was the amount of time it takes to attach the stays. I was fortunate enough to receive the package with instructions adhered to the outside of the envelope. I really do recommend watching the YouTube video made by the manufacturer. While the clasps are quality - they are not intuitive the first time you attach them.It took me about 20 minutes to actually attack just one pair of shirt stays. At my height - I actually had to take my socks off, and attach the stays, in order to get fully dressed. The same mechanism that provides the shirt stays with their superior quality grip, also makes it very difficult to prepare them for attachment.I also would have liked to see the excess elastic 'finished' and reattached the band. Many of the competitors have standard buckles on their elastic bands so that any excess length is tucked back into the band. I think this would add extra value to the product. Finally - one pair of stays is not enough to adequately tuck a button up dress shirt in. I would recommend packaging the product with a total of four stays (two pair) or even creating a Y-Harness variation.I do feel this is a substantial improvement over traditional shirt stays, and I think the manufacturer is on to something. With a few minor improvements I could really see this product becoming an industry leader in fashion.Disclosure: I did receive a complimentary pair or shirt stays from the manufacturer and was asked to give a review of the product.

Difficult to attach but they stay put once you have them on
First a disclosure... I received a complimentary pair of these under the expectation that I would write a review of them.I received them promptly and they are just as shown in the picture. The packaging was minimalist... they were simply in an envelope mailed to me with no accompanying instructions. Fortunately, I had an email from the inventor and he included a link to a video on how to attach the shirt stays. One thing I noticed right away is that only two stays were included. With my other shirt stays, four are included which I think is better. That way you can hold the left and right sides of the front of your shirt as well as the back, keeping your shirt tucked in evenly all the way around. Then it was time to attach them. Now I feel about products the way I feel about software. If the design is good then there shouldn't be any instructions needed. It should be intuitive. With these shirt stays, I did have to watch the video to figure out how to work them so that was a point against, unfortunately. That said, the video was short and clear and after watching, I understood right away how they work.Understanding how they work and actually doing it proved to be two different things. Trying to 'unzip' the zip tie to open the stays, was cumbersome and took quite a bit of time for me. In my opinion, there are much better methods out there for attaching shirt stays to your shirts/socks. I will say they held firmly once in place. However, having shirt stays come loose wasn't a problem I'd had with any of my other shirt stays so I didn't see the point of redesigning this clasp. It's much too difficult to get on and off.On the plus side, they were long enough (although just barely) and they did stay in place all day and evening. All in all they seem like a prototype of a product rather than a finished product. If that's true, the changes I'd like to see made are:1. Improve the attaching mechanism so they're easier to get on/off2. Lengthen them by another 2 inches each3. Include 4 of them in a set4. Improve the packaging as I think they'd make great stocking stuffers if they were better presented
