No, it DOES NOT work on Macs. Forget it. I tried running it straight out - no luck. Tried different versions of the most popular drivers for non-Apple products (DisplayLink), old and new - no luck. Tried it on THREE DIFFERENT macs, which I take care of and which are up to date. No luck. On El Capitan and 10.11.6 and Mavericks 10.9.5 - no luck. The driver that comes with it is on a mini-disc that supposedly works on Windows - fine, but that is no help for me. One of the reviews here says "I can run windows on my Mac" - that's nice, but I'm running OS X full time.I think it just DOES NOT work on macs. Which is ok, except for the suggestions that it does. If you have a Mac, I suggest you stay away. Agreed, many of the Mac offerings for USB-Video are quite expensive, but this one did Not work for me (and yes my monitor is fine as is my VGA cable. The problem is the adapter). I have run displays w/other adapters successfully in the past on Macs, no big deal. Unfortunately, this one doesn't. Wish it did.Sending it back.

I tried this out to see what all it would do for me and its pretty bad. It works and I did a simple test which is what i got it for in the first place but don't use this. Just get a normal VGA or HDMI cable, the picture quality is horrible.

This cable worked great for what I needed it for. I am currently using a MacBook pro but the driver for this cable that is on the CD it came with only works with Windows. Not a problem since I have my Mac dual booted so that I can run Windows 7 on it also. I installed the drivers and connected a second external display that I had laying around the house, to give me in total, 3 displays. I love to have a ton of work space and this cable gave me exactly that, plus, less clutter in the "extra-computer equipment" closet. It does not seem to over load my computer at all, let alone the graphics card. It is almost like there is a second display port on my computer, but no, its through USB. I always have Excel spreadsheets open and having 3 displays really helps when you have to look at multiple spreadsheets at a time to reference numbers and data and such. I was given this product at a discounted rate in return for my honest and unbiased feedback, but that does not change the fact that I am currently typing this review on a monitor that is connected with this cable.

You should not have to read customer reviews to find out that when these are plugged into USB 2.0 it will only work at 800x600 resolution. That information should be in the product description... you know... where it says it is compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 3.0... and VGA output resolution:supports 1920X1080,1600X1200,1360X768,1280X720,800X600. No mention that the output resolution is for USB 3.0 ONLY.So now I'm stuck with 7 of these things that are useless to me.Seriously. Put that information in the product description.

This is a joke. I bought this product before and it didnt support properly usb 2.0. Read the new product description and it now states it supports usb 2.0 so I bought some. If you are not really really computer literate its a big pain to make work. To make it work you have to download a separate program and go into and edit the registry to make it work.
