I soaked the ceramic piece and the hose for 15 minutes according to the instructions so there was no air in the lines, and it worked well.

It worked very well, I soaked them for few hours, everything submersed, left vases a little below the bucket with water, assured the tips of the tubes were in the bottom in the water, kept earth humid for 7 days, one small vase even overflow. I have some from Germany before, and both worked in similar way, thus these are cheaper.

Super happy with these. I saw a lot of bad reviews for these saying they didn't work at all and I'm thinking they maybe didn't clear all the air from the tubes while setting them up. I put the end of the tube in a jar of water and attached the cap to the spike while they are under water. You will see air bubbles escape the bottom of the tube when you put the cap on. Pull the cap off and then on again, off and on again, until you stop seeing air escaping the tube. Do this all with the cap and spike and tube fully submerged. Works great!
