The Bay Area At War.
A very nice book in the Arcadia series by Nick Veronico. My Grand-Father was a welder at Mare Island during WWII and I've long been curious as to the shipbuilding industry in the Bay Area. This book provides an excellent look at the many yards in the area and the work they did and, perhaps more importantly, the men and woman that built the ships that helped win that war. Picture quality is good and the captions are well written and informative. The only think lacking is a map showing yard locations. Highly recommended.

Military shipyard history in the Bay Area
Interesting history of the bay area's shop yards at work. Especially some coverage of the Mare island ship yard near my home.I did not know there was so many locations contributing for the war effort and the ongoing defense needs.

Great Photo Record of WW II San Francisco Bay Shipyards
This is a great book of excellant Photos of the Shipyards built on San Francisco Bay during WW II and the Merchant Marine ships built there. My yachting excursions on the Bay in the 1980's were homeported in Marina Bay, Richmond, the old Kaiser shipyard. The book had photos of the C1-M- AV1 class of ship, one of which I worked on in late 1981.
