I love how easy this was to install. The only soldering I had to do was to connect the output jack. Other than that, you can run a ground wire to the bridge (which doesn’t necessarily need to be soldered), screw it on the guitar body, and you’re done!The sound is fantastic! It’s got all those classic Strat tones that you’ve heard on hundreds of records.I wish it were a little less expensive, but it’s a great piece of gear. I used it for a new build, but it would also make a great replacement for a guitar with cheap electronics, or an old one in which the electronics may have worn out.

I bought this for my '89 Strat. It's a direct replacement (plug and play) and very easy to install. Sounds great and I love the black guard against the cherry red.

Fender makes several different pickguard replacements like this. So I'm only speaking for the Texas Special. First of all I saved 60 dollars buying from amazon instead of Fenders web site. Sorry Fender. I installed this on an inexpensive Squire Strat that I bought from the NRA as a fundraising promotional. The Squire looked bad ass but I wasn't expecting much in the way of sound quality. As expected the pickups on the Squire were low budget at best. Very thin tone, no bottom end. I picked the texas special because i got to hear how it sounded on fenders web site. Very Important move on my part. The sound blew me away but would it sound that good on my cheap Squire. After an easy installation came the real test and it didn't disappoint. The Squire has a low end growl that was never there before. The tone is amazing. It's now one of my favorite guitars and I have a half dozen. If there's a fire in the house I have to make sure I grab this one. The cheap Squire sounds like a 1,000 dollar strat. At least, maybe more. Check the fender web site before buying and listen to the demos. You won't be disappointed.

Replaced a pair of Fender Tex Mex humbuckers on my Strat with these Tex Mex single coils. Great buying decision. Easy replacement. Removed the old pickguard and dropped this in its place. Screw holes matched the holes in the pickguard. Sounds and looks great. Slightly overwound alnico pickups with fuller sound without being harsh. I have the pickup and control cavities lined with copper foil and absolutely no hum.

I also had to have some work done to fit the loaded pickguard on to the body. I required some additional minor routing and an additional ground line being run. Other than that, this unit upgraded the sound and control of my guitar 100 percent. The additional cost of having a luthier do the cuts and wire it properly was well worth it. I am extremely pleased with the product for the price point, even with the additional cost involved in getting it mounted.
