Carry one in your wallet, pocket, or add to your fire and survival kits.Based on our experience and testing:Don't attempt to ignite white paper - newspaper or other dark paper works bestDoes not work well on cloudy daysGreat for igniting magnesium to catch a flame for your tinder!Be sure to ignite dry grass or bird's nest tinder, not sticks or twigs (kindling)Instructions:Gather tinder and set up wind barrier(s) around it as necessary. (Be careful not to block the angle of the sun.)With the sun at your back, hold the lens until you see the light beaming through it on your tinder.Move the lens toward the tinder bundle and back out until you get a focused beam of light - 1-2 mm in diameter - on your ignition location.Hold the lens steady! It will take around 30 seconds, depending on weather, for the focused beam to ignite your tinder.Optional: scrape some magnesium from a mag bar into a small pile near your ignition source on the tinder bundle and focus the light on the magnesium. Once ignited, the magnesium flame will ignite the tinder.
