Newfangled Fairy Tales, Book No. 1

I loved the book! The stories are just short enough to hold a young kid's attention but not put me to sleep;-) Very interesting retelling of the classics. However, I would not buy from this seller again. The book is falling apart and, silly sellers, they left a price tag of $1.79 on the book and charged me $8.

Amazing collection of fairy tales "with a twist"! I can't have enough of them! The modern language mixed within the traditional stories, the classical characters acting like kids from your neighborhood, the unexpected twists and turns that the well-known stories take keep you on your toes from beginning to end. Of course, all of these stories are nicely wrapped in a sound sense of humor.I totally recommend this book to people with or without children!

A Really interesting good book about the the fairy tales we grew up with in a different way with funny endings to.them that keeps you wanting to read them to find out more

This book is hilarious! I bought it to read to my son and I enjoyed it more than he did.

This is a good book not only for children , I enjoyed reading this myself! Its a new twist on the traditonal fairy tale. its modern, and upbeat!!! Love it!!!!

I thought it was an amazing book. I love fairy tales but I'm tired of the same old ones. Bruce Lansky brought me the book that made fairy tales fun to read.

Tremendously fun reading for children of all ages. Creative, fun twists on the popular fairy tales. I even use it in my teaching! My students keep asking for more.

I love that these stories have been modernized. Our kids will grow up knowing the older versions as well as the new, but I feel they will more easily relate to the updated versions.

I did download the free story about the girs who wanted to be a princess - that was really nice and i do love retellings of fairy tales - either with more detail or with a different ending so i bought both newfangled fairy tales...In my opinion the great promises of the foreword does NOT deliver the promised different fairy talesyes the endings are different but it is just as much cliche as all other fairy tales. Some are nice but about half are totaly stupid and worse than the original.Some of those tales are rather twodimensional (who names their daughters April May and June??? the parents do not even have names... why would a BANKER be named KING Miday name his son PRINCE and only talks about his wife by WIFE??? this story is not even so different from original only it is on modern times. In another story the prince is really named Charming so the auther did not even have enough own magination to give their heros real names - i was so disapointed...)I did not find one story with a nice stepmother for example. But references to wicked stepmothers are made at least once -Ony story states that a kiss is a solution to almost everything - what morale it this (i mean yes is issomethimes that in fairy tales a kiss can solve the problems but to actually write a fairy tale where the king tells his daughters like if they search for a prince and if they encounter any proplem a kiss will solve everything??? more often than not in REAL Fairy tales the hero has to overcome some abstacles first and in many tales a kiss actualy has nothing to do with the real solution)Some of storys do not have any happy ending (like the real story of sleeping beauty or the frog princess )from all the storis i found only one really good - that was the prince and the pea...and the one about Goldilocks was also not bad - all the other i found boring or stupid and would not reread anytime soon nor read to any childrenI wanted to give this book back and get a refound but for some reason the option is not available and it seams i got stuck with it and the second part as well...

Loved the stories. Wish I could get the other books in the series without needing to pay more for postage than book as they come from US. But I guess it's a case of keeping a lookout for one in the UK or kindle.

My 8 year old decided this sounded like a fun read, so I bought it. We weren't disappointed - the stories are basically updated (in a funny way) fairy tales, with far more feisty 'maidens' and baddies with much more street cred than in the originals. Great fun for kids and adults alike.
