I was worried that 4mm wouldn’t be thick enough, but due to the density of the cork and natural rubber, my knees felt better than usual on this mat and my balance was better due to the firmer, smoother surface. I was concerned that the super smooth cork would make me slip but I felt much more anchored than on my typical mat. It had almost no smell, just the smell of cork. Zero rubber tire smell, although I did remove it from its plastic packaging and let it sit there (still rolled up) for a few days before use. I didn’t notice any smell when I first opened it, either.It is heavier but I don’t mind, and I did notice a few cork grains during my class, but nothing bothersome or any worse than chunks of a toxic mat. Totally recommend this mat—so glad I sprung the money for this after months of considering a may upgrade.

This is the second non slip hot yoga mat I’ve but and the second one that has proven to not hold up in really high heat. Hot 8 Yoga studios are notoriously hot and in the hottest class I’ve taken thus far it actually melted my mat. I think the heat has damaged the material and now it’s no longer grippy and I slip around in my pool of sweat (for the first month and a half this was not an issue!). It’s in the heavier side but the cushion made up for it and I only used it when driving to the studio. I’m sure it works great in regular heated studio but not anything on the hotter than hot side.

It has an awful rubber smell when I received it, so I put it on the patio to air out. The smell doesn’t go away after 6 weeks. I believe it will always be there. If you don’t like the smell of tires like me, this is not the right product for you.Just to add that I use latex mattress and latex pillow, so I know what rubber normally smells like. The strong odor of this mat really took me by surprise, as I really hoped I can like it.

Very pretty and I love the grip of the cork on my bare feet. I am impressed with how well it works in a yoga mat! This is maybe a little bit thinner than a cheap traditional yoga mat, so if you need cushioning on a hard floor this isn’t it. It has a strong curl memory. I have had books on one end of it for a week and it hasn’t flattened. I think I may need to reverse curl it or warm it some with a blow drying to get it to lay flat.

I purchased this may because I wanted something more natural and higher quality than my old foam mat. I'll update once I've had it longer but so far I'm very happy with my purchase.First impressions right out of the box:Well packaged; minimal odor detectable only if I put my nose to it; lays nearly completely flat with slight curl to either end; the cork is really soft, yet grippy on my hands; the extra length is nice for floor poses; the rubber seems durable and is denser than my old mat which gave little support; and finally, the cork pattern is really beautiful and calming too look at.
