Friedrich CEW24B33A Chill Premier Smart Air Conditioner Window Unit, WiFi Mobile Control, White, Heating & Cooling Capacity (24000 BTU)

I wish I had ordered two units, by the time I install this awesome machine, they were off sale. So I bought another from a local store, big mistake. Very happy with my new Frierich unit.

Our home is 1500 square ft and it cools it great. Remote is easy to use

Unit took a while to arrive, and was damaged inside the box, but it was the summer and couldn’t wait any longer due to the summer temps. The damage was mostly cosmetic to the outer housing and could be bent back with pliers, but it made sliding the unit into the housing harder. The remaining damage were small bent or scratched pieces, but it didn’t impact operation and once the cover was on you couldn’t see it. I accepted it was my decision not to exchange the unit, so not deducting stars for the damage. Deducting a star because at the 1 year mark, the buttons on the unit stopped working most of the time, so I have to use the app or the remote to adjust the settings. If you run the unit on cold, the room humidity increases, so you have to switch to the dehumidifier mode, which is very effective, but you lose control of setting the temperature. At least the dehumidifier temperature it blows is cold, but it’s extremely cold, so it feels like the house temp is a ping pong game, going back and forth. It would be nice if it would automatically switch between modes. Overall this is not worth the premium price and I would not buy it again.

Ordered3 units before July 4 . 2 work ok 1 unit the compressor died within 47 days . Amazon no longer sold this product and was not able to replace it. They laso had no comperable substitution

Overall the unit cools well so far, haven't had a chance to test the heating function yet so will update this review later in the season. The main issue I had was the noise level. When we first turned it on the noise level was at about half that of the AC we replaced, but as it ran through the day the fan noise level progressively increased to the point where it was only a bit quieter than the previous unit. Also, when changing the mode to Cool, it automatically turns it to the "Money Saver/Eco" mode. In that mode the cooling is decreased and I don't believe it would maintain temperature on a very hot, humid day. As such, it should default to just "Cool" rather than the Eco mode. Additionally, the installation instructions for installing in a wall opening need to be re-written. The size that's related to use by the manufacturers brochure is over an inch larger than the sleeve. Our contractor had to call the company to figure out why that was. They said it was to "assure that the unit fits, and that most people just fill in the gaps with insulation. That's not very intuitive, it also doesn't set up a secure install. Our contractor modified the opening to better fit the unit and used expanding foam on the remaining openings. Also, the Money Saver setting is the same as ECO on the remote, which is not defined anywhere in the manual.

sent two of these a/c's out here, 1st one bent up. second one doesn't even turn on. Pathetic

I purchased this unit and it ran well for a week. Then it stopped cooling. I contacted Friedrich and they told me to call a local authorized representative. However, there were none that still worked for them. So I called them back and they gave me the name of one that was 200 miles away. They then said they would only pay $75 for the service call. I told them that that would not cover their gas and "IF" they would come, which I doubted, the service call would be closer to $300. They offered no solution beyond that.Thank goodness I bought this thru Amazon. I had no problem returning it and got my money back. I then ordered an Amana unit thru Amazon after checking there warranty and service agreements.Bottom line, don't buy Friedrich unless they have an authorized service representative close to you. But in addition call the service representative and see if they still service Friedrich window units. I found the first two they told me to call no longer did service work for Friedrich.
