I am not impressed with this kit. It is of a scale (1:12) that makes it very hard to drill and fit the very tiny parts. It is much too complicated for any novice, and even some with experience with other wooden miniatures, it will be challenging. My experience has been with doll houses and ships, but this model stymies me. I would warn anyone interested in these Model Trailways models of this scale, you will need some very sophisticated and accurate tools. The cast parts (hubs, leaf springs, etc) either are not predrilled or the holes are too small. The thickness of these pieces makes it extremely difficult to drill an accurate (and TINY) hole, even with a dremel drill press. I'm sure it can be done, but be prepared for some challenges. The instructions are not as detailed as I would want, so I turned to YouTube to clarify how the actual wheels and undercarriage are constructed. In the hands of an accomplished craftsman, this would be simple, but I suspect that the more accomplished would send this back. Given the price, I feel it is worth careful consideration before purchase. I am very disappointed but intend to make it work for me, even if I have to get creative and modify the design a bit.
