Gold Standard of Fret Rockers
The StewMac fret rocker is a substantial piece of steel. It is solid with four machined sides that are perfectly flat. With a little practice you can detect the slightest variations in fret height.I’ve used this fret rocker on my Gibson Les Paul Modern, PRS SC-245 and a Fender Stratocaster. It works well on across different scale lengths. Are there cheaper fret rockers out there that are just as good? Maybe, but I haven’t spent much time looking. My guitars are high quality instruments and I only use high quality tools and that’s what StewMac delivers.

The StewMac Fret Rocker Tool and the Love it!! Guitar lovers this is a fantastic buy:)
The StewMac Fret Rocker tool is one of the most essential and unique gauges available. Easily find “high” frets by comparing to those on either side of the target. Can be moved horizontal along fretboard and vertical across from sting to string to find “high” spots causing annoying buzz. Takes all the guesswork out of fixing fret level issues.Want to make a great impression to a family member or anyone you care . Great gift -StewMac Fret Rocker - The Original Stainless Steel Fret Rocker 4-in-1 Mini Straightedge, etc. Very reasonable priced.

Top quality
This tool has a specific job - to see if three frets are in the same plane or not. It is thicker than most other fret rockers, heavier than most, and as far as my ability to check it is concerned, perfectly flat, so it does it's job perfectly. Like everything else Stew Mac it seems expensive for what you are buying, but after you have it and forget what you paid you will have a lifetime tool that you are glad you own.

Perfect fret rocker, typical Stewmac tool
The two finger holes make this the perfect rocker. I was spot filing the infamous frets on an Ibanez RG550. Boy did this find me a LOT of high frets…I used the stewmac spot leveler to get the frets as even as possible. I used the fret guru to recrown. This is my first level job and I learned a lot.The only thing I would take any guitar of mine to a luthier for is a complete new fret job. I have high end guitars and am afraid to tackle that on my own. I’ve had success with it before, but it was on an old epiphone. My point is that you can do the easier jobs yourselves and Stewmac are my go to tools. Fret guru makes quality tools too…for fretwork.

Stew Mac is the real deal
Don’t waste your money on no-name tools that you’ll either need to return or won’t get the job done just because they’re $20 cheaper.Stew Mac makes quality tools and this is worth the extra price because it’s all even and it lasts unlike the cheaper no-name tools you can buy.

StewMac quality but at a premium price
OK... I gave it 4 stars due to overall value since it is expensive for a fret rocker. Sure you can buy a cheap one off of ebay but it won't be a durable or accurate as the StewMac version. Nice and thick....the multiple length sides makes it easier to measure the frets as you go up the neck. If you do your own guitar work, this is a tool that is worth buying...if you buy this one, it will last a lifetime.
