Disappointed
I wish they would let you know when there are cliffhangers! This is not a complete book. I hate to start reading a book and you have to always read another book for the ending. They do not even let you know this when you download it! I try to stay away from these books unless they offer it in a complete set.

Suspense with a touch of spice...
Excellent story of Cass Rockwell assuming the identity of her nemesis, Celeste Carver, at a masked costume party, intending to exact her revenge and ruin her reputation. But then she meets the perfect man in Calder Blake (loved this guy)...who has a strong attraction for Cass, but who genuinely believes her to be Celeste. The beginning of this story isn’t very original, but it quickly morphs into a captivating mystery/suspense with a nice romantic subplot. Strong characters although I didn’t connect with them as well as I did with Talia & Sebastian, from books 1-3. I don’t know why. Intelligent dialogue. Provocative adult language kept to a minimum. Strong, captivating love scenes that don’t overwhelm the plot. Undercurrents of criminal activity combined with a touch of political intrigue. Good steady pacing...I never got bored and was reluctant to put this one down. The only downside is the unbelievable fact that Cass and Celeste look enough alike to pass for identical twins even though they’re not related. If you can suspend your belief that such a thing is possible, you’ll probably enjoy this one. Cliffhanger...

Dopplegangers are a real thing, I guess
So I really wanted to enjoy this book, but I had some trouble.I liked our heroine Cass, and definitely felt for her with everything she'd went through. And the sexy scenes were definitely hot! But there were certain things that I just didn't quite understand. I thought maybe it was me, that I accidentally glossed over it while reading? For one, it took me a little while to get my head around the core concept, that apparently Cass is the spitting image of this other woman she knows, Celeste. That they look almost identical, doppleganger style. I swear I must've missed that part at the very beginning of the story, so I was pretty confused for a few pages. Well the whole story is built on this idea, that they are so identical that Cass is able to pass for Celeste in front of all her friends and family. Okay so when Cass does this by wearing a mask, I thought this was a pretty cool and fun idea. However, later when Cass does this again, but without a mask, I had a lot of trouble suspending my disbelief. How could even her family not notice the difference? I mean, thank god that the hero Calder is not 100% fooled (one really big redeeming factor of this book for me). But with the limited interactions they had (although super sexy ones), how could he know better than her own sister that sees her everyday? The book tries to blame it on a great imitation of her personality, but what I'm talking about are subtle differences in appearance. Is it silly to think that someone in your household would probably notice if suddenly your nose is slightly different, your boobs are smaller and hell even your freckles have changed? Even twins can be told apart by their friends, so what the hell is everyone's problem in this story?Another issue I had was that I honestly didn't quite buy Cass's reasons for trying to get even with Celeste in the first place. I get that she didn't like her, and that maybe she was sort of like a "mean girl" towards her in the past. But the fact that Cass seemed to blame Celeste for ultimately what were someone else's terrible actions didn't make sense to me. Then Cass's assessment of Celeste at first is that she's always in control around her friends, and later Cass realizes that this is basically because she has no actual control in her personal life. Well.. duh. That's like human behavior 101.Last, and this is more of a minor gripe, the fact that Calder is a "billionaire SEAL", as the title suggests, is hardly a major part of this story. Him being military is merely the reason given for him disappearing for a few years, and then coming back as a skilled fighter. Maybe his training and experience will play a much bigger role in the subsequent book (yes this ends on a cliffhanger, you've been warned!), but it felt like a misleading title. If you were really looking for a military-heavy story, this would probably bug you, but if you don't actually care, then it doesn't matter.

Plot hole. No Act 3 climax
To me, the novel introduced 1 baddie/threat at beginning (what happened at high school party), later intro of rich guys with fight club who damage MMS fighters, and at the very end a car with blood. Neither of the 3 threats were resolved by end of book and neither did the main character, Cass have a big fight/showdown/struggle with either of the 3...so I also felt there wasn't a climax. It's as if the writer stopped at a various point and ended the story. It doesn't feel as if the story followed a 3 Act structure and its plot points. The guy who emotionally scared her was sprinkled through the book well enough to feel a constant threat but there wasn't a big confrontation/showdown.Sex scenes were really good though.

5 Gold Shimmering Stars!
Damn this was a seriously awesome book!! I loved the first 3 in this series with Bash & Talia and wasn't really sure what to expect for Cass & Calder's story. Well I certainly didn't expect to be completely sucked in as I was. I spent the entire day absorbed into their story and couldn't put it down (adjust ask my family as they didn't get dinner last night! Oops). I love the twists and secrets that surround them. Add in all the steaminess throughout this book and you've got a 5 star read!PT Michelle has such a talent for writing that pulls you in and has you adoring the characters and making you feel the chemistry between them. Her descriptiveness makes you feel like you are there actually watching everything instead of reading it! I can't wait for the next one in this series!!*I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review*

Golden
Calder and Cass were introduced in Mr Black and played important roles in the two subsequent books in "In the Shadows" series. I didn't know quite what to expect of Calder and Cass as Talia's and Sebastian's story was so captivating but I must admit that this is a pleasant surprise.Calder is Sebastian's cousin and Cass is Talia's best friend. This story starts with the two girls attending a party, only the revelations are about what transpires between Cass and Calder. They meet again four years later and the chemistry between them is just as intense as it was when they first met. The circumstances are quite different and difficult this time around. They both have secrets which are not easy to convey without others being affected. Cass looks like Celeste who is from a prominent family and whilst doing Celeste a favour in return for a favour of her own, Cass is caught in political issues, involving secrets, lies, deceit and danger. Calder is trying to unravel what's behind the illegal activities taking place. This instalment is proving to be just as intriguing and compelling as the others in the series. The sex scenes are sizzling. The suspense is so intense that putting the book down proves to be impossible. It ends with a cliffhanger where a lot of questions remain unanswered and I can't wait to find out what happens next.

SOLID GOLD MORE LIKE
I'm starting to get serious withdrawals with every book that ends and need my fix!I love this series and Gold Shimmer is just another shiny bright gold star to the collection.Calder --- Well hello there sexy, so nice to get to know you waaay better! I loved him! Everything about him, even the oxygen he breathes has it going on! He's carrying his own Demons and what I've come to love about P.T's writing style is back stories merge perfectly with the story at hand. All is not always what it seems!Cass, the strong, independent lady, is like the friend we knew of Talis's but comes to the forefront and rocks the show!Suspense, mystery, intrigue, scorching hot chemistry, this book has it all and I need my fix of this world before the mother of all hangovers sets in!

Gold Shimmer (In the Shadows series) bk 4
bk 4 of this series..... Although this book is the start of Calder and Cass's storyline. My Goodness, these Ex-SEALS have some energy and gumption, all act like Dom's and always assuming the women want the full whack right from the first meeting - this I suppose is what turns the pages - FICTION is a wonderful thing with a big dollop of fantasy thrown in. As always with this Author, another great read, she has such foresight and story telling skills all packaged up for our enjoyment. This is part one of Calder and Cass's storyline... Part two is out sometime soon. Can't wait....

Another great book in the Shadows series
Brilliant story in the series based on Cassandra & Calder's perspective. From past to present. Cass' original meeting with Calder was a masked balled pretending to be a girl called Celeste now she's pretending again & sworn to secrecy, how will she manage to get Calder to fall for her & not this other girl.

Good read
Cass is out for revenge against a man who abused her at college and gets swept up in a deal with someone who she looks like to get to him. She meets Calder and everything seems to get mixed up when she can't stay away from him.
