Very interesting but almost too short
This was very interesting to read, Canadian history is not something so mainstream like, for example, US or German history. I mean, you won't see it depicted in movies or TV shows. It was largely unknown to me so it was like discovering something completely new.I wish that every event is described with a little more details, there are 50 events but it is a short and quick read. That is not a bad thing, but you have no choice but to research further if you want to know more than basic stuff.Overall, I like this book, it is well-written and deals with not so common subject matter for popular history books. Good job.

Short, quick and easy read.
The book was a super quick read. Each event was given, on average, a page and a half of information. I am going to reread it several times, using it more as a gateway to more detailed books on the topics presented. I will be looking at others in this collection.I would recommend it to those that don't have the time or the desire to read lengthy narratives.I would not recommend it to those that are actually wanting to study Canada's history, especially from an outside knowledge base (like mine being a US citizen).

Could Have Been Better
Too many events allocated to recent political happenings. Should have included building the trans Canada railways, the immigration period of late 1800s. But the first part of the book is very good.

Like a cheat sheet for history!
An excellent read. Great way to prepare and keep current on events that impact what you're seeing as you travel through the country. Easy and quick reference!

... it is not as well publicized as other countries like the United States
I did not know much about the history of Canada as it is not as well publicized as other countries like the United States. So for more reading this book was largely a new discovery. The treaty of Saint Germain-Ey-Laye was my favorite chapter. As you read through the book you realisze how much of a vast history Canada actually has. I highly recommend this book to others who want to do a bit of dusting up on their Canadian History.

Very Informative book
This book Provides visual, period, political and document based. I learned allot of historical information and views of Canadian history. If you want to know too about Canadian history, this book will help you know the history of Canada in a well written and organize form. What makes me love reading this is it contains a number of events in Canadian history that left mark on the lives of the people of the time and in the minds of later generations.

Good.
The history here is well-written. Concise but each chapter is short. It makes the book easy to read and understand. It is very useful and knowledgeable. I would love to see more of this work.

a well constructed historic time line of Canada!
Canada's culture and history explained in a nutshell. Surprisingly they a well constructed historic time line of Canada's roots. It was easy to understand and grasp the great history which you don't usually get from a lot of lenghty history books. I felt that they tried to tackle all the important events and highlighted the important stuff to stick to readers in a straight forward manner.

DO NOT BUY!
I have never written a poor review in my life, but I feel compelled to break that streak today. I must give feedback on this absolutely awful book, if only to dissuade some other poor sap from wasting their time and money. (Unfortunately, I seem to have passed the date where I can get my own money back, so I’m stuck with it.)I purchased this in the hopes of using it to teach my children about Canadian history. From the very first pages, I realized this book was horribly inaccurate. In one section, the book repeatedly claimed the Inuit came from Serbia (it’s Siberia). It also said John Cabot left Venice in the 1980s! I wish I was kidding. I quite literally could read no further, because a book with so many obvious, stupid, and avoidable errors cannot be trusted. The fact this author spent so little time researching and editing their material is frankly embarrassing. Amazon should remove this book.
