Dexron VI is reverse compatible with all previous versions of dexron. If the trans originally spec'd dex then dex VI would be appropriate. However I believe your dodge ram did not spec dexron but rather a Chrysler fluid called ATF +4.

Can it be used as replacement for motorcraft mercon lv?

Yes, this will meet or exceed the Motorcraft Mercon LV specifications.

Why is it $5 more a quart than the Parts House?

Read the label one is atf-4 and the other one is dct for dsg transmission's which are dual clutch
