This is very soft, washes beautifully! If I were a critter I would sleep on it. I thought my aging arthritic rabbit would love it, but he hated it and refused to sleep on it! And likewise, my cat wants nothing to do with it. He prefers a cardboard box. [Shrug] It looks nice on the floor though.

I got this as a protective layer around my litter box. My cat has kidney disease as well as arthritis in her hips and sometimes just doesn’t make it quite into the box. I am so grateful for this mat. It is sealed on the bottom, so that it doesn’t leak and absorbs fluid from the top.As you can see in the picture I’ve included, you can tell when it’s wet and need me to be changed. Instead of an arduous, disgusting clean up now I can carefully roll the mat up, throw it into a trash bag and deposit into the washer. I hang dry it and bought a second one to switch out whenever the one in use is dirty.Of course, if she pees away from the mat, I’m out of luck, but this at least give me some coverage where she’s most likely to lose control.This mat is a similar material to the absorbent mats that you can get for under a dish rack in the kitchen. Thus, as other people have pointed out, if you have a puppy which is not trained and tears things up, it will tear this up. It is probably not the most hardy and durable material. If you have a dog that is trained as far as claws go, you should do well with this mat. However, I’m not a dog person, so go with your best judgment.As far as one person’s concerns about pee smells lingering on this mat after washing, I have not yet had that problem. However, I have gotten an enzymatic cleaner for pee smells and I will probably start spraying that onto the mat before I wash it to try and reduce any lingering smells.Hope this helps, for the usage I have bought it for, it is perfect. I purchased this product to use in my dog’s crate on moving day. I don’t usually keep her in a crate at all. But I knew it would be a long day and she’d have to stay in there for several hours. This pad not only absorbed her pee, it also handled a full spilled dish of water. I just popped it into the washer and dryer… came out perfect!

Love love this item for my dog it holds all the bad urine if he was to ever make an accident in his cage but it works wonders

It lasted about a month before my dog decided to try and rip it apart. He wasn’t successful at ripping up the inner fabric but the black liner around the edge, he ripped it off like string.On top of all that, the pad was doing great being a way to easily clean the crate if he made messes. Unfortunately, after a while and several washes, the smell would stick!Obviously no one wants their dog to sleep on a pad that smells like pee, so I threw it away.

Mat is not much. Not completely non slip. Think it depends on the surface. I put it in my dogs crate and it slipped. Can't imagine a dog being comfortable on this.

Like that it can washed - and easily fits into bottom of crate. Have had for a couple of weeks and dog doesn’t chewed it up because it moves around in bottom kennel.

Dog isn't liking this much. He ended up chewing on it so the outer edging material came off. It's pretty thin too so my dog didn't like laying on it much either. Just something to chew on.
