Your seeds will love this
I have two of the 40x20inch heat mats that I use in the springtime for starting my garden starts indoors. Wow, a little heat makes a big difference for germination time and rates. I will always use heat mats now. I have the heat mats paired with a temperature controller to keep the soil at the precise temperature recommended for the type of seed planted. These mats almost fit four 1020 gardening trays on top. This would be the only negative… they are about 2 inches short. But in reality that doesn't make a big difference in their performance. They work great and have never let me down. Remember, after germination turn off your heat mats or you risk cooking your starts. The mats also roll up nicely to store. When is spring coming?

Large, well made, and works great!
I have planted seeds with my kids on more than one occasion and have had very little luck really getting them growing. I would love to have a garden that I started from a seed so a seedling heat mat seems like a great way to help boost the seedlings success. The mat measures 40"x20" and can easily fit two seedling trays. We went and bought our gardening supplies at the store and planted our seeds into a egg carton like container. I was able to fit two large containers on the mat and would have had room for more. The mat can heat the soil 10- 20º F above room temperature. This is great because I worried that my seedlings would get enough heat and also didn't want to place them directly in the window for fear of them getting too much sun. Optimal soil temperature is roughly 70° to 78° F so monitoring the soil's temperature is important. You want to make sure you don't overheat your seedlings and kill them. Once the seedlings have sprouted, you should remove them from the heat mat and transplant them into a larger planter.Pros:- Large.- Raises soil temperature 10- 20º F above room temperature.- Mat is made of a heavy duty PVC shell.- Water proof but not submersible.- Speeds up the rate of seedlings sprouting.Cons:- None.I am very happy with this heat mat. It's large, well made, and works great.I received a discount in order to test the product. However, I post reviews so consumers can make informed decisions. Defective Unit?
Finally got around to unpacking and setting this up for spring seedlings. Does not heat whatsoever. Well beyond Amazon exchange timeframe so have contacted greentisory.com hoping that they will exchange.Update: No response from manufacturer. Not at all happy.

Be certain that you use matt completely rolled out
Make certain that the matt is rolled out ALL the way. Otherwise a coil will form and you will have unequal heating. Once i figured this out all went well. I recommend this product to any garden enthusiast who wants to keep on going through the winter months. Only a week and i am already having results with getting the HARDEST seeds to germinate. The hottest of the hot peppers... They need very warm soil and a ton of love and attention... Keep a look out for Sweeney Said Seeds!

large heat mat, great value, i love it
i'm using the 20 by 40 heat mat to heat a larger sturdy rubbermaid container filled with tea plant seeds , temperature of of my containers soil is 82 F keep in mind this on a tile floor and it's fall time in Minnesota, i will be using a temperature controller and humidity domes soon, this would work well on a shelf or under one, the size and price sold me, i wanted to heat several trays under a utility shelving unit
