Surpassed my expectations
The showing of an entire apple going through in the picture is a little deceiving since only small apples can fit through the 3" wide diameter shoot. I find it difficult to find apples this size so usually they need to be cut into fourths. Not so bad when compared to my last juicer with which I had to cut them into sixths. However whole cucumbers (even thick ones), lemons, carrots... all these slide right through whole! This thing is also really quiet! My last juicer was also a "silent" juicer but even though it was less loud than most it still sounded like cats screeching. Neighbors in my building get disturbed easily so I couldn't use it during certain times, but this juicer is quiet enough that I've had no problems using it in the middle of the night without disturbing them. The smart cap is genius. Sometimes I end up making a little too much juice for the glass I'm using and just when the glass is about to overflow I can close the cap to leave the rest in the juicer for a couple of minutes until I get another glass. It also prevents dripping on the counter. Clean-up is a breeze. So much so that I find it almost fun to clean. I used to have an older Kuvings model and I didn't stay with it long because of certain things I didn't like. One of those things being the auger which was a pain to dismount and mount because it was short and almost the same height/width as the surrounding filter- which meant and I couldn't get my fingers down on the auger enough to pull it out easily. This auger is much taller and juts out of the filter by a good few inches so all you have to do is wrap your fingers around that and it comes right out. A quick rinse of the parts is all it takes. The filter takes me about 2 minutes to clean with the brush and the end of the brush is great for getting any debris out of the pulp shoot in the housing. All together it takes me about 4-5 minutes to clean; no exaggeration. Though it may take less or more time depending on what it is you juice. I usually do cucumbers, apples, turnips and turnip greens, Kale, garlic, ginger, parsley and lemon. Crushes it all like a dream. The manual says it can do wheatgrass and Almonds as well, but I haven't tried those things. There is very little foam in the juice and the pulp is nice and dry. This juicer also comes with an extra attachment for making deserts like frozen fruit treats and crushing ice. Really there is just nothing bad I can say about this juicer. It's perfect. The only thing missing is that it doesn't chill the juice for you! As no juicer has yet been invented that can do that, I just place the juice in the freezer for 10-15 minutes to get it nice and chilled before drinking. Update: Sept/20/2014 I recently started using the blank strainer to make sorbet deserts. OMG- Delicious! It doesn't seem to matter what kind of froze fruits you put in - banana, strawberry, mango, cherries, etc.... It all comes out tasting like the best sorbet icecream you've ever had! The juicer continues to work great. The only issue I've had is with the pusher. I washed it in the dishwasher (as I often do with all the parts), but for some reason the pusher expanded permanently while in the dishwasher and it warped in such a way that it no longer fits in the shoot. I contacted Kuvings about a replacement and am still waiting to hear back from them. I guess the lesson here is- don't put the pusher in the dishwasher.

Best of all worlds
Like a lot of folks, we wanted to start juicing to get more vegetables in our diet. We wanted to get something easy to use and maintain, built to last, that produced the best quality juice, especially from leafy greens. It seemed that we couldn't have it all, you either had to choose between the convenience of a centrifugal, or the higher quality juicing of a masticating juicer. Right when we were about to pull the trigger and get a Breville, the Kuvings Whole Slow Juicer hit the market, the first slow masticating juicer with a large feed chute! Suddenly, there was a product that had everything we were looking for. We've been using it virtually every day for the past month and couldn't be happier. Build Quality and Warranty Very solidly built, uses a 240W motor, which can handle most anything you can throw at it. Since it churns at low speed, operation is nice and quiet. Lots of thoughtful touches, like the smart cap and dots to help align the parts for assembly. Warranty is 10 years "bumper to bumper", excl. normal wear and tear. Also included are cleaning utensils, smoothie strainer, and recipe book. Ease of Use With the large feed chute, you can reduce prep time since in many cases you can push whole fruits and vegetables in. However, stringy vegetables, such as celery and parsley, should still be cut to ~2" portions, as I've found that otherwise they can clog the exit chute. There are only 5 parts to assemble and clean (plus the pusher), so clean up generally takes me 6-10 minutes. It's a "slow" juicer, but it's quite efficient. Usually, it takes only about a minute or two to get a 12 oz glass of power greens (kale, spinach, celery, apple, etc). Juice Quality We mostly juice leafy greens, and it does a phenomenal job! Judging by the minimal quantity of dry pulp that is left behind, it is a very efficient extractor, with very little froth. We've had success with a wide variety of other material -- carrots, apples, pears, beets, watermelon, ginger. The only things it doesn't juice well are soft, fleshy fruits, such as ripe mango or peaches. You get the juice, but there is also a fair amount of wet pulp left behind. Overall Impression We knew that our best chance of consistently juicing was to get a no-hassle juicer. With it's reduced prep time, ease of use and cleaning, and the high quality of juice produced, this juicer absolutely hits it out of the park. Highly recommend the Kuvings Whole Slow Juicer.

Very Good Juicer
I ordered this juicer and it arrived last week. I've used it at least a dozen times and it is indeed a great juicer, as everyone else here has described. I will tell you how it is compared to the juicer I own and love, so that others can decide if they want to replace their current ones or not. I use the Omega VRT350, and have no issues with it, use daily and love it. I only bought the Kuvings Whole Slow Juicer because I needed a second juicer for all the traveling I do, and this one seemed exactly the same with a few "improvements" I thought I'd really like to have. The improvement I like the most is the bowl. The Kuvings bowl is flat inside without all the nooks and crannies that are in the Omega bowl, so it makes it a little easier to clean. The silicon flap under the bowl is bigger on the Kuvings, but I feel like the slightly smaller and less flat one on the Omega is easier to get in tightly (very important to avoid any leakage). Though, neither of these differences are deal- breakers. The Kuvings is much taller with the top on and I don't actually like having to use the pusher so much. On the Omega, I never have to use the pusher; an apple chunk, cucumber or carrot is all that's needed to push any greens down just with gravity... simply drop things in and the Omega pulls it all down into the auger. I'm hoping to get used to having to use the pusher on the Kuvings so much, though. It's a personal choice, of course, not really a design flaw. Also, on the feed tube subject, while it's very nice to have such a big opening (3"), you really need two hands to feed in greens, celery, and any other smaller cut items. A big funnel needs to be on top so one can just drop it in with one hand. Having to use 2 hands, I find I need a little more counter space. With the Omega, I can feed anything one-handed (may not be an issue for some people, but my set-up is juicer on the counter to the left of the sink so I can clean up easily). I do like the green basket/screen cleaner that comes with the Kuvings, it works great. The only other negative is that I actually need the thinner cleaning brush that came with my Omega to clean the pulp chute on the Kuvings bowl. The chute on the Kuvings is slightly longer than on the Omega bowl, so I need the Omega thin brush end to scoop it out easily, just like it does so well for the Omega. Summary: If I were buying my first upright masticating juicer, I would buy the Kuvings Whole Slow Juicer, for sure. If I have the Omega VRT350 already and am looking to replace it with the Kuvings just for the improvements, I wouldn't, that would be money spent unnecessarily. However, I would do exactly what I just did and buy the Kuvings or the Omega for a second juicer. I am planning on using my Omega for my *travel juicer because it is smaller overall than the Kuvings. So my Kuvings will be the permanent fixture in my kitchen. I rated 4 stars overall rather than 5, just because of the slight awkwardness of use as compared to the Omega... not because of performance, which is excellent. *By "travel" I mean via car. I drive state to state and stay places for weeks at a time so won't be without my juicer. I wouldn't risk either good heavy juicer on a plane, though, too much risk for damage as your bags get tossed all over the place. UPDATE: I just wanted to add that after fiddling with it a little bit, I figured out how to get the silicon chute flap easily into it's slot. It's now just as easy for me to get it in as it is to get the smaller Omega one in it's own slot (yay me!). Anyway, I just insert the very tip of the top of the flap in first, and the rest of it follows as I push evenly and firmly with my thumb. Maybe hard to picture that... sorry... just fiddling with it for a few minutes initially will get it in there easily each time in about 3-4 seconds, though... we're all a little different. I know this isn't an issue at all for anyone who bought the Kuvings without ever having used an Omega (or any other juicer for that matter). Happy juicing!

Excellent Juicer (With tips!)
This is our second juicer and has by far impressed us over the Omega VRT350. (Still a good juicer just a level below this one) Some great features are: The "smokey" feed chute shows you the produce getting crushed! (cool to watch) The smart cap allows you to mix and see the yield of juice you get from each item put in The large feed chute reduces the amount of prep time by half Leafy and more fibrous produce are easily juiced without blocking the exit chute (HUGE IMPROVEMENT over the Omega) Way less pulp compared to the Omega (Perfect amount, you're not eating your juice but its not pure liquid) You don't have to cut your produce into tiny pieces prior to juicing and you roll the leafy greens (way better!) Clean up is easy with the brushes provided and smart cap. The minute we turned on this juicer we knew it was going to be a good one. We Love it :) See John from Discount Juicers for all the reviews and comparisons of juicers available. Very helpful in deciding which is right for you! (Thanks John) ***Update*** We are still loving this machine. We did notice a manufacturing defect with our juicing screen so we contacted Kuvings Support and they sent us a new one free of charge. Someone mentioned in another review that when you buy on Amazon you may not have the warranty coverage. We had to send Kuvings a copy of our invoice and they had no issues with it. ***Update Aug 2015*** Juicer still working great, I make green juice regularly and thought I would share a tip on how to get it moving nicely through the juicer.. alternate what you put in for example: Kale Cucumber Celery Cabbage And repeat Another tip I've recently discovered is using cabbage. It pushes everything through (even fussy kale and celery) and cleans out the strainer very well which makes cleaning easy. The cabbage also gives the juice a much more balanced/mild taste. ***Update March 2016*** So Juicer is still working great, today the silicon plug just tore (I use it at least twice a week still), emailed Kuvings (this morning) since they do not offer that piece for sale on their site and they are sending us a whole new bowl under warranty(responded within two hours)! This company is absolutely amazing with their customer service, I don't think I could be more impressed! 100% worth the money not only for a great product but the service as well! Such a rare thing these days.

WARNING - Expensive and not well made!
I had a really bad experience with this Kuvings juicer. I noticed all of the splendid reviews regarding the Kuvings and decided to splurge and purchase it. I previously had a Champion masticating juicer for over 20 years and wanted something that would be easier to clean. The first day of juicing with the Kuvings, I was impressed with it's productivity and quietness, compared with the Champion. However, the Kuvings juice stopper just fell off the juice spout in the middle of juicing and I was not able to reattach it properly. I was concerned when I first saw that stopper. I was also concerned about the smaller plastic pieces attached within the juicing basin. These design elements seemed poorly made. However, the missing stopper didn't prevent me from using the juicer, so I continued to use it for the next 5 days. I juiced everyday as I was on a 30 day juice-fast. Even after the stopper fell off, I was falling in love with the Kuvings. It was so much easier to use and clean than the Champion. However, on day 5, while juicing carrots and ginger - yes, I followed Kuvings instructions and yes, I cut things into small pieces - there were suddenly several loud popping noises and the lid jumped off the juicing bowl. The plastic rim of the bowl snapped off in two places! It was totally unusable. I literally cried! I couldn't believe this happened. When I called Kuvings customer service, my questions were not answered. The employee was repeating scripted statements and seemed irritated with my questions. It was almost surreal. I did not bother to get replacement parts from Kuvings. I returned it and got my money back, thanks to Amazon! One should not have this sort of experience given the cost of this juicer. Also, using the term "whole juicer" is misleading. You must cut fruit and veggies into smaller pieces. I'm returning to use a Champion or an Omega.

It juices pretty good. Expensive for what it is
The jury is still out on the Kuvings Slow Juicer. The first disappointment was that Amazon shipped this via USPS who literally dumped it on my doorstep without a signature. This was even after a specific request to Amazon not to deliver in this manner (we have had a string of package thefts in the entire city. Package was too big for delivery to the Amazon locker). I purchased this specific juicer on the recommendation from Consumer Reports. I suspect that they only tested a few (both slow and fast juicers) and I do not concur with their recommendation. First, here are the positives 1. Juices nicely leaving just enough of the bulk in the juice for roughage. 2. Juices a pretty good array of fruits and veggies. I have juiced everything from broccoli to kale, to apples, oranges, etc. 3. When compared to my previous juicer, it is relatively quiet. Now with the negatives 1. Expensive. $400 was a lot to spend on this juicer and I expected a higher quality machine. Similar machines sold at Costco and BB&B go for around ½ this price. 2. Hard to clean. Someone said it was a snap to clean (or cleans in 5 minutes). I guess they were only juicing low pulp items. With bell peppers, kale, apples, carrots, etc., it takes at least 20 minutes to clean with quite a bit of water. 3. Tends to jam easily especially with harder veggies such as carrots (even when the carrots are cut up and left to soak in water before juicing) 4. A few times during juicing the top portion expanded under the torque of the motor combined with the type of veggie being juiced. I read a previous reviewer state that this part shattered. I can believe this can and did occur. (Should be reported to the CPSC as this can be very dangerous). As I stated previously, the jury is still out as to whether or not I keep this appliance. It is not all I expected.

Great juicer
Previously I used a Green Star twin gear juicer. Loved it, but it required constant pressure on the the veggies while feeding them into the machine. I have recently developed a degenerated disc in my lower back which made this painful for me so I gave my favorite juicer to a friend and was on a mission to find one that would be easier for me to use and would work as well. Juice I must! I was considering the Omega VRT 400 after seeing how easy it was to use in a video, but after reading the reviews there was talk of issues with the screen grinding the bottom surface of the bowl. I emailed them to see when they projected the issue would be corrected and never heard from them so I continued my search. I am so glad that I did. This juicer is not only easy to assemble, disassemble and clean, it is also easy to use. It takes up no more counter space than my Vita Mix and it fits under the cupboards. I store the catch containers and other accessories in a draw nearby. I found it took less time to use than my beloved Green Star and it did not cause me any pain in my back while using it as it is pretty much self-feeding with the exception of putting in some larger fruits or veggies. Even then it took little pressure, but I chose to quarter my apple and it did not need the plunger at all. The greens juiced well (and no foam) with my rotating them with the soft and hard veggies and fruits as I fed them in as suggested in the video. The only time the pulp was a little damp was when I fed too much apple in at once when rotating my greens, veggies and fruit otherwise the pulp was almost, not quite, as dry as with my Green Star. I would say a pulp dampness difference that is barely noticeable is a fair trade-off for such ease of use so I could juice daily again. I have not yet tried wheat grass so I will post a review when my flat grows tall enough to cut. The only place that took any work to clean was the pulp discharge shute. I had to manually clean out about a 3/4 inch of carrot pulp even after running a cup of water through the juicer while running in an effort to flush it out. I did not feel any of the brushes provided worked well for this task, but it was no big deal. The screen brush worked well and totally cleaned the screen thoroughly with about three twists. Even so, it took a lot less time and effort to clean than my previous juicer. I am sure those two "issues" will be resolved once I get past the "learning" stage of a new juicer. All in all, I love my new juicer and would totally recommend it.

Glad I bought this Juicer
This Juicer looks like the high quality I paid for. And it juices everything wonderfully. Oh, it looks beautiful too. (I got the silver) I love the 3 inch chute and so far all my Granny Smith apples fit well without cutting them into smaller pieces. The only thing I usually cut is the celery because it's so stringy, so I cut it into about 4 or 5 inch pieces. Don't bother to cut carrots. What I really love is that you can hear and see this machine take bites out of everything, and it's especially fun when it eats an apple. :) Reminds me of Eve. The cleanup is about what you'd expect. It's not a breeze, but not burdensome either. I rinse each piece right after juicing so nothing sticks to the parts. And let it drip dry. Soap? I haven't found it necessary yet, but will probably use it about once every month or so. Everything is easy to rinse except for the parts that collect the pulp. Still, it's not a real pain. Tip: if you buy yourself a gravy separator you won't have to deal with the foam at all. Works a lot better than those regular strainers you see them using on the YouTube videos. Just collect the juice from the machine in the container it comes with and pour the juice into the separator. Then pour into your glass and enjoy. I'm impressed with this powerful machine and hope to get to use it for many years. I almost forgot, the juice it makes is very concentrated and good and the pulp is very dry so that means you're getting the most out of your produce. I bought one of these for my daughter too. No, I'm not rich. But if I keep myself and her healthy, this investment will pay for itself in no time at all. Seriously. A word to the manufacturer...I would love to see you make the end of the small brush that is included into a semi-pliable but strong "pick" with a small hook for cleaning out the pulp where it gets stuck every time. Or just make another tool appropriate for cleaning out that long small part. Getting the left-over pulp out is the only 'work' I do that's required to clean this great Juicer. Thank you for making this thing!
