This Broad Axe uses the traditional Swedish pattern for a broad axe. Use for hewing logs and cutting of corners in log building.The longer handle version of the broad axe is ideal for hewing with the log near the ground in the American or German style. With the extra power from the long handle, the work is easily performed.The Broad Axe is delivered with a hickory handle and a leather sheath.

Good axe for hewing pine
Traditional Woodworker, I harvest wood from my forest.I use this axe to hew big ass timbers for framingOut of the box the edge is razor sharp, however there was no micro bevel. Hit it with a file and a good stone, stropped with chromium oxide and it is a much better edge.I don't believe that they raised the grain at the factory, as it was a bit too toothy by my book. Sanded it down and finished with boiled linseed.All in all the general edge profile is very thin,this thing sinks very deep into pine. it can handle hardwoods no problem, but if you are doing a lot of processing get a dedicated hardwood broad axe.The axe guard is decent, however it's a little fumbly, I will later make a pull tie version for it.All in all its a nice axe, good weight, excellent steel, just keep in mind it is designed for hewing pine. (Saw no mention of that in the description or the website, dunno why the manufacturers don't tell everyone this upfront)

broad axe
I brought this axe for a log home project that me and my dad are woeking on. It came razor sharp and has worked out great. Only flaws were that the handle was loose when I got it and since has been replaced. The head is of very good qaulity and holds its edge well. Over all a good product. Its also one of the best broad axes for the price out there.
