This is instant read but not an instant temperature readout. Takes a while to get the temperature.

I purchased the Digital Cooking Thermometer - DefenderX Premium Instant Read Thermometer For Cooking, Meat BBQ Liquids Candy Sugar Oven, Thermometer With Probe and it is what I was looking for. I wanted a long digital thermometer for grilling and other tasks that allowed me to be away from the heat. It is well designed and easy to use. The only downside is that it is not exactly instant read... so It takes some patience to see the temperature settle. but all in all good product for the price. Honest customer reviews are very important to me because I always rely on them before I purchase almost anything online. This thing is awesome! I melted my last thermometer by forgetting it in the oven while I waited for the temp to read correctly. :( The readout on this is instantaneous, which is SO nice when you've got your face in a hot oven or over a pot of boiling sugar water. I've never made candy before, in part because you have to have a separate thermometer for it, which I think is ridiculous. I have to spend extra money to buy the same thing, but a little different, and put it in my drawer to take up space in my tiny kitchen so I can make goodies once a year for the holidays? Yeah, right. I love that I can use this for baking, roasting, BBQ, candy, and even the room temp! Our thermostat is old and super unreliable, and this gives us the room temp right away--and very accurately.I'm very pleased to have this handy tool in my kitchen. I bake, cook, and grill a lot, so this thermometer was put to use right away. The thermometer is sent in a plastic tube, which is convenient for storing. The readout panel is inset in the handle with all 4 of the buttons to the side of the inset area, which is great because it is much harder to accidentally turn the thermometer off while you are using it. I have calibrated the thermometer twice, and it has temped accurately both times. Also, the battery is easily accessible if or when it needs replacing. As with most thermometers, it does take a moment to get an accurate reading.I received a discount on this item in exchange for my honest review. This Digital Cooking Thermometer works great and is effective at checking the temperature of meat when cooking. It makes my life easier now that I do not have to guess if the meat is done at the right temperature. I can simply use this Digital Cooking Thermometer to check the meat to see if it is cooked to perfection. Now I can cook for everyone's taste whether it is rare, medium-rare or well-done everyone is happy!
