Not as practical as I was looking for. If you are looking for something more scholastic and brainy then this may be for you. Didn’t find it helpful for me.

A quick review here. The book is very readable, knowledgable and helps not only to illuminate the household codes, but also how better to read and understand the New Testament in its original context.

Albeit the small size of the book, the author thoroughly explains the historical origins and cultural setting of New Testament social codes. Far from dismissing the language of 1 Peter, the author applauds the craftsmanship and cruciform ethos of the letter in relation to the surrounding culture. Superb teaching style and logic, it is a quick & deep read.Also, instead of propagating God-ordained roles or sinful patterns needing redemption in individual relationships, this book pays careful attention to the cosmic re-orientation of the whole body of believers. The Church will always benefit from reading a book like this that considers Christ's pattern and transformative power.
