American Savages (Ruthless People series Book 3)

I still remember last year when I saw the old blurb, I knew I had to read this one. It was mentioned Mr. and Mrs. Smith meet Soprano. I mean how could I pass this up. Now that I finished the entire trilogy, I got to say I absolutely love this series from the start to finish, even with the tone getting darker and darker and the characters getting more OTT.The plot is unpredictable from start to finish, every book left you craving for more, surprising revelation at every stop, the sex is hot and animalistic, and there is enough violence and blood to drown a village. There is no justice, no conscience, no redemption.Liam Callahan, the Irish mob prince had a God complex and as cocky as they come. He had an impulsive and devil-may-care attitude that drove you nut.Melody Giovanni, the Italian mafia princess is like a man in a female body. She is a control freak and one of the toughest heroine I had encounter and totally ruthless.They are ruthless, untouchables and the savages.Their got married due to an arrange marriage to make their family stronger, but together they found solace and strength in each other. Their relationship grew so far, from the moment Mel shot Liam during their first meeting, to having a family and enduring the ultimate fight against their enemies. I like how they were both so committed to the marriage from the get go. Even with them being married from Book 1, their relationship never lose any spark throughout the series."There are no pants in Mel's and my relationship, we both prefer to be naked."They are match made in Hell. Together they wrecked havoc from the street of Chicago to Washing DC.There is so much violence and death here that I had stop being squeamish and questioning my own morale. McAvoy really don't hold back any punches when it comes to ditching out the violence and retribution. The main character is the ultimate villain and I still rooting for them to win. I'm not going to mentioned about the plot because that's too spoilery and is gonna ruin the surprise. Let just say is one of the more convoluted, action packed mafia plot that I've ever read. Totally OTT and I couldn't care less. Imagine the Expendable kind of awesomeness.The Ruthless People trilogy is recommended for those who loves mafia story and not squeamish towards violence and loving bad people. Another favorite author of mine who is now on my Automatic must read list is JJ McAvoy. I love all her books, and one of my favorite mobster type series is Ruthless People. I find for a mobster family, the characters are all easy to relate too and though they have evil sides and powerful they all hold an ethic of the family comes first and will do everything in their power to protect the ones they love. American Savages starts with the introduction of young Melody and a young Liam Callahan as they are thrust into the world of mobsters and loyalty. Years later, these two would be joined in marriage to unite both families together. Eventually, they fell in love and had a son named Ethan. All was going well until one day, Melody disappeared, and Liam was accused and charged with her murder. American Savages starts with Liam in jail and his trial looming. Readers waited in anticipation to see if Melody would turn up or let Liam rot in jail. When the family is finally reunited, it seems that danger is looming around all corners and there is a mole in the midst. As more people are killed and information leaked, Liam and Melody as the head of the families organization must take the lead and find out who is trying to betray them before their closest family members are killed in the line of loyalty and duty. What will happen though when the mole turns out to be someone in their inner circles and someone linked to power? Will their duty of punishment waver or when more are killed will the family take matters into their own hands? As usual, American Savages was a fast-paced, and high adrenaline read as each chapter is action-packed and adventure-fuelled. Action packed OTT mayhem! A surreal, crazy HFN ending for the Callahans. Can't wait to read about the next generation ❤Melody finds herself in the midst of her darkest nightmare early on in this installment of the Ruthless People series. Being faced with the dilemma of who to trust is a battle Melody has not encountered since childhood when her father instilled a clear message she could only trust in herself. Liam has done his best to convince her he and his family would always have her back but old habits are hard to break. Recent events reinforce her father’s teachings and she quickly throws off any notion of reliance on others.With the city and the public’s opinion of the Callahans at an all-time low, they need go from ruthless to savage. Boy, that took me by surprise even though it was blatantly clear in the title. Their reasons for being savage was forced upon them as they did all to keep their family safe and survive. That’s not to say the Callahans are innocent – far from it! Their enemies were just as savage and in a strange way the degree of violence both parties engaged was justified.The Callahan home front is in damage control with the shocking news of a rat of the two legged variety somehow within their ranks. One is obvious and the other is a major shock. It’s not as clear cut as it appears towards the end. I am still unsure if the catalyst for deceit was motivated by insanity or love.It was unnerving as the reasons for Melody and Liam’s troubles were revealed. Each and every single one of them open up another can of worms as to what is going on and what it will mean for the Callahan family. What is evident is that everything happening has taken a toll on Melody’s ability to remain stoic. And that’s saying something, because she is one of the most resilient tough anti-heroines out there.Revenge is laced with bitter sweetness as final words spoken by their enemies open the door to demons of the past. While American Savages hasn’t been my favourite of the series, it was still a book I am glad I have read!

This book series is so well done, and I wish I can go back and re-read it again like it's my first time. I love everything JJ writes, and this is no exception. Fast paced, dangerous, funny, and never a dull moment with these characters.

I love these books I laughed I cried and I was shocked and stayed up till 4am because I couldn't stop reading it.. my favourite series

J.J McAvoy has ruined all books for me now. All other books are a bore compared to this series. Not sure how she did it but Melody and Liam are evil blood thirsty cold hearted mobsters but damn i love them. Their cold but freaking boiling hot with each other. Just Damn i'm so glad to know the ending but pissed off it's now ended. WHAT THE HELL AM I GOING TO READ NOW!!!If your reading my review to decide weather or not to buy this book as it's not the norm then click that button fast and start reading. This book is not the norm and thank god for that this book will leaving your jaw on the floor so much that it's just better to leave it there until the end. This book is a must read so get on it guys and buy this book.J.J McAvoy you are a genus.

Loved this book last in the series so sad it's ended Melody and Liam aka The Bosses are ruthless and untouchable and are pure American savages I loved every side of them so much power so clever the plot against Avian was great loved the back and forth then I got to 72% and I broke down it was so unexpected and I was guttered I had to take a break after that emotional turmoil back to revenge now someone has to pay and it better be Avians blood being spilt JJ doesn't disappoint victory is ours and a great epilogue to boot HEA for the giovanni's/Callahans well done 5 epic stars!!!!
