Very interesting.
A nice and intriguing story line. It prompted my curiosity enough to purchase book 2. The ending was a bit off, but it's still a good read.

Pretty good!
Well worth reading with great character dialogue and a fast moving plot. Fight and shooting scenes were a bit unrealistic- that was my major complaint. But it is smoothly written and goes by fast. I was not bored and I will probably give book 2 a look. Cheers!

A Wild Ride
This is difficult to put down here. The book is excellent. The plot is very, very good. I read a great deal and I’m immediately picking up Book 2 in this series. I wasn’t sure in the first 10 pages but then I was hooked! Sam, Lance, Roth, Laurel… the Russians… great characters… really good!

Total Schlock!
Unadulterated schlock! Makes “Paul Clifford” look like “For Whom the Bell Tolls“.However, it is entertaining and keeps you turning the pages. I’ll give it that. Would make a good comic book. Very predictable plot line too. I figured out who the mole was before I was half way through the novel. I was actually disappointed when it turned out that I was right.I probably won’t get to anything else in the series, I have more serious things to read.

A Good Read
If you like Mitch Rapp, Scot Harvarth, and the Gray Man then there is a good chance you will like this book. I enjoyed it and will try out book #2 in the series.

Well worth reading and more
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. You feel that the author knows the former Soviet Union, Moscow, the details of now Russian political investigation techniques and deception. He mixes elementary psychology about women in the forefront.I couldn’t let the book down...and will definitely continue the series. Than you, Author Herzog

A high stakes spy war leads to an unforgettable debut thriller
Meet „retired“ CIA asset Lance Spector - a man with an endearing sense of humor and a very particular set of deadly skills. When we first encounter him, he is in a remarkable situation that immediately forges an emotional connection between him and the reader. With such a great introduction, Saul Herzog sets the bar pretty high from the start and doesn’t let go til the very end.The characters are among the most fully realized that I came across in this genre in quite a while. The story is deftly plotted, and Herzog pulls together the many threads of the complex narrative masterfully at the end.The pacing is also very good and the thrill-factor of the many shocking twists is amplified by the pulse-pounding action scenes, which have an alluring cinematic touch to them.THE ASSET is a truly stunning debut and I can’t wait to see how the story continues in THE RUSSIAN!

A real page-turner
What a ripper of a yarn. Couldn't put it down from go to whoa. The characters were well drawn and the plot believable. And, glory be, no long passages describing the scenery, flashbacks to things totally unrelated to the storyline, or any other unconnected issues that only serve to fill up the pages, all of which are always guaranteed to make me close up shop. In this one there was action on every page. Great stuff! This was my first Saul Herzog book. Can't wait to get on to the next one in this series.
