I will be donating this one
This is a weird book. My 2 year old loves cats but doesn’t like this one. This is just really weird to understand. The writing is odd (I guess it’s a language of the 1970s thing?) the way the cat door is described and the cat sitting in the flower box and yowling it’s just confusing to read and to hear. Then the robber breaks in and they all have tea in the end. Weird! There are scary illustrations of the cat waking up the little girl. I love cat books and I love vintage books but this one is a miss.

I like this book very much
I like this book because it is funny. I like it when Mog saw the burglar and shouted her best meow! And she forgot she already had supper!

the book was in perfect condition and at least being a board book means ...
My dad always talks about how he used to read this book to us when we were kids. I was excited to be able to buy him a new copy to read to his grandkids. This is a board book version, which was a little disappointing, because we had the larger, hardcover book (with paper pages) growing up. Still, the book was in perfect condition and at least being a board book means that it will withstand lots of use. My kids love the story of Mog the Forgetful Cat.

Sweet, lovable Mog
I had "Mog the Forgetful Cat" as a child and loved it so much I named one of my cats Mog. We purchased this for our son's 3rd birthday. He's asked to read it every day for the past 2 weeks. Even his cousins from overseas are familiar with the book and gushed about how much they love it.The book is a reasonably accurate portrayal of pets doing silly things and the way adults and children react to them. It's nice for children to see that just because mom and dad gripe about the pets the children can still cherish them.

Childhood favorite!
I bought this book purely for reminiscence sake - I wanted my son to have this book that I recall from my childhood. A sweet story about a lovable cat that gets up to mischief and saves his family one night. Really lovely illustrations throughout this board book. I definitely recommend this story.

A bit dull but the images are lovely
No quite in the league of The Tiger Who Came To Tea. Some pages in the book don't appear to really fit well with the story and it's not quite as quirky as Kerr's previous work. A bit dull but the images are lovely.

She's 6 now and it continues to be a favorite because she can now read it herself
I bought this on a trip to Ireland when I was looking for a book for my then in utero daughter. She's 6 now and it continues to be a favorite because she can now read it herself. Mog reminds us of one of our own cats.

Perfect
I had this book as a child and loved it. My niece is fascinated by cats so I bought a copy for her (mine is quite beat up.) Since this is a board book it is very sturdy and great for toddler hands. Since it is a board book, I expected the story to be somehow shortened, condensed, or summarized. I was pleasantly surprised that the board book is the complete story. Of course the pictures are smaller but everything is there. And my niece loves it.

Depressing and negative
According to the first few pages, Mog is pretty much useless at everything and a pain in neck because of it. I got bored of hearing just how useless and irritating he / she was and stopped reading only a few pages in. The girl in the story wears a really short skirt, which I found odd, as everyone else was pretty covered up. If you’re feeling nostalgic for the 70s and / or you were read this book as a child, it might appeal to you. If you like to read uplifting / fun stuff to your kids, where girls and boys are treated the same, I’d suggest giving it a miss.

We love Mog, but not so much this story....
I read Mog when I was young. I bought my 12 month old the little mini Mog books for her first books and she fell in love with them, and as we have a Tabby who is exactly like Mog the book helped her bond with the cat. So when I decided to get the big Mog book we were all really excited. However, the Mog portrayed in this book is not like the one in the little books. When I saw forgetful I thought it was going to be a sweet story about her forgetting where things are or that she'd already chased that toy or something, but I think the story is actually quite sad, basically noone in the family apart from the little girl likes Mog and they find her annoying. The cat is sad and understands they don't like her and she's described as a bit..well...stupid. As i was reading it out loud I just thought this is not a nice story of a family cat! I get cats can be annoying so and sos, ours is, but I guess it just surprised me. Even when she saves the day at the end and she gets praised it still seemed a bit crap for the cat. I've chosen to not read it outloud again and just get the other Mog books.

If you really know cats then you will love mug
As a former early years teacher many years ago go I never found a preschool audience that didn't like Mog if you're an adult and a cat person you will also be a fan. I am hoping post lockdown to share the delights of this book with my grandchildren for now I'm hoping that the older one will read it to the younger one and together they will become ardent admirers of this nice but not very clever cat Mog -and that I will be able to relive all the adventures with them I especially liked Mog and the baby.

There’s a burglar in the story!!!
Love Mog books. However if I’d known this is a story with a burglar in I would not have bought it. Why put scary ideas in children’s heads? Donated it to charity.

Children's classic, Mog is timeless and loveable..
We just love Mog. Such a silly cat. The story is very well written and illustrated perfectly. You could almost imagine a real cat like Mog!The author has some other Amazing books like 'The Tiger who came to tea' which is a children's classic. Be sure and buy a few other books in the series. Well worth it and great for storytime too.
