Picnic Pal
I bought this for a church silent auction. It was great! The person who bought it told me they have a lot more fun on their road trips.

Close to being just right
I was offered my choice of one of the Apollowalker picnic backpack bags at a discount in exchange for my honest review, and I decided I'd better get this 2-person one instead of one of the 4-person ones since there's only two of us and I was thinking the others might be too large. I wish I had gone for one of the bigger ones. I've taken photos showing how this backpack will work for us in a typical day-outing scenario.First, I was pleased to see that the fabric, stitching, and finish of the pack itself are strong and solid. At the price, that's to be expected. The part that sits against your back and the carrying straps are amply padded for comfort, and it does not look like anything will tear very easily. I like that the color is not a garish primary-red color but more on the rosy and understated side. The wine-bottle holder is not removable on this model. I thought at first it was just very strong velcro, but it's not; it's clearly sewn to the pack. I was able to slip an umbrella between the holder and the pack, though, which is great! I was a little disappointed that you can't zip up a 1.5L wine bottle into the bottle holder—the bottle's too tall—and the tube part is too narrow to hold a 2-liter soda bottle. You can, however, put a 1-liter soda bottle, two 16.9-oz. water bottles (if one is turned upside down), or two 12-oz. soda cans into the wine-bottle holder. Two pint-sized mason jars will fit, too, but only one quart-sized one if you're into packing jar salads. The adjustable straps to the left of the wine-bottle holder can accommodate the larger wine bottles if you cinch them up very tightly so the bottle can't slip through; that, or wrap it in a cloth napkin first to give it a fortifying floor. Had the bottle holder had just a tiny bit more depth (an inch or two), it could have held the larger wine bottle or two quart salad jars. The hidden utensil holder is a really nice design idea and looks impressive when you unzip it and fold it down. Everything inside is either made of plastic (to avoid breakage) or cloth (the napkins). The finish on the plastic handles of the cutlery is matte, so it makes the set look slightly more elegant than the pretty cheap set it is, but the plates are downright tacky-looking. I'd want to swap those out first thing if an elegant ambience was what I was aiming for. A saucer-sized plate is too small, though, so you'd have to take one of the included plates with you and try to find something of similar size. The cloth napkins are more fancy, but the stitching along the sides could look nicer. (I don't know the name of that stitch—a hem stitch? It's what you see on the underside of hems, i.e., not meant to be seen in public.)The cutting board and the cheese knife are very nice touches, as are the salt and pepper shakers. The best part of the set, though, is the waiter's corkscrew, replete with foil cutter. It's only got a single corkscrew and not the anti-cork-crumbling double one, but it's pretty darned good for a set like this. Finally, the stowaway picnic blanket is thick and decently sized. Certainly good for a concert in the park. Its compartment is lined as a cooler so you can put something else in it instead of the blanket. I photographed it with some water bottles and soda cans inside just to give you a sense of the size. I expect you could carry four soda cans or water bottles, a cold-pack layer, and enough sandwich fixings, cheese, and fruit for two people. Side-sling your 1.5L wine bottle and use the wine-bottle-holder for a few pint jars filled with salad and you're set for a long, enjoyable evening with some wine left over to share with friends or for later.
