You broke my heart at times and lifted It a t thers we come from two different worlds.me from no family others than foster but ,reeminded , at 61 how lucky and blessed that I somehow came through never having m,, or father but being married for 40yrs with two great children that no matter the journey if you stay true to yourself and never give up you will find your way.thank you for sharing your story.I could not put it down,it touch my Soul.to the core and reminded me tho I have a incurable disease to never give up. I could hardly believe that this child could survive the horrible childhood she had. She moved from country to country, school system to school system, one person caring for her to another place to live where there was little care. She was surrounded by drug takers at one point, people who saw here as a way to get money from her "father", John Huston and to many people she did not know. Yet she did not get into drugs, she did well in school and managed to keep her head. She was/is amazing. Was it her genes? It certainly wasn't in her nurturing.

a beautifully conceived and written memoire that seems to come from a place of memory rather r than research which makes all the more powerful. it is unsentimental and moving, the language sparse and lean yet evocative. This is the authors truth and it is a complicated one. It is revealing of her life as a child of a mother dead too young and two fathers who loved her selfishly and imperfectly. Each person introduced is vividly drawn and the author pulls few punches in describing them. but doesn't judge either always careful to subtly remind the reader that they are seen through her lens which isn't unbiased. While there are plenty of famous people , the title of the book is really the story. This is not some salacious tell-all by a bitter child of a celebrity, but a book about brokenness and healing where each person's humanity is respected. Moving, honest, and compassionate.

An extraordinary memoir. Love Child is beautifully written and full of wisdom and keen insights--not to mention some remarkable characters that happen to be family. That Allegra Huston was able to navigate so many losses and upheavals in her early life and still retain her sense of self is nothing short of miraculous. Her intelligence and humanity inspire.I highly recommend this book.

Allegra is an intelligent woman with a great command of the language who uses this skill to describe in great detail her inner feelings. Very open and honest look into her as a person. I guess officially she was not the daughter of Mr. Huston, from what his ex wife wrote (Evelyn Keyes), not convinced Mr. Huston ever had any biological children.

I know first hand this whole story as I am allegra Huston's 2nd mother~she has a wonderful way with words and always showed her brilliance as a child which has followed her though her adult years..this is a must read for everyone.

This is so engaging, maybe because I know Allegra, to learn and have insight into the world of Allegra Huston, especially her remembrance of her beautiful Mom. Engaging read, with Anjelica along as the earth mother she is.

beautifully written, heartfelt, couldn't put it down, read her sister's recent bio, this one is much more deeper. Angelica"s book was just a lot of name dropping. She comes off as narcissistic- instead of hanging out with the dysfunctional rich and famous , she should have been looking out for her baby sister.This poor girl was orphaned and left to raise herself, its amazing she turned out so well after being raised by all those self-serving wolves.
