I've used these pens for 40 years where I work and they are great for marking, rough lettering metal and other smooth surfaces. They last a long time without drying up.

I've been using these exact pens for over 30 years and they're still my favorite. However, from now on, I only buy one at a time because when we bought them by the box, obviously they sat awhile and will not write. 'Even tried letting them soak in the sun.

Does not work like I expected .

Doesn't work.
Tried to use this pen to mark removed parts on an engine repair just a few days after receiving it yet it was already dried up to the point that it didn't work. Tried pumping the rubber bulb on the end until my thumb cramped, warmed it up, poked at the ball with a pin to free it up, etc. All I could get was a tiny smudge of paint once in a while, too little to even write one small character. Seems the company is sending out old products that should have been trashed instead. Not worth trying to return it as I wasn't able to put off my repair while waiting for a pen and if I get a working replacement it will just dry up before I need it again now that this job is finished. Disappointing.
