It would have been nice to KNOW!
Pros: Well built.Cons:1) Not told installation requires more than an inch gap between fence and gate posts. SHOW STOPPER FOR ME!2) Prongs on latch mechanism not bent at 90 degree angle. You need to bend them.3) Spring on latch mechanism doesn't allow it to be mounted flush to fence post. You can use washers (not in kit) as spacers which increases gap requirement OR try to smash spring end into post which may bend and weaken hook at end of spring.

Very nice gate latch especially well-suited for metal gates.
I installed this on a black aluminum gate, replacing a latch that was better-suited for a wood gate.The self-drilling screws worked flawlessly with one exception: It appears the bottom screws actually run into each other on a 2" post.I am giving this 5-stars for construction and design, but I would make the following suggestions:- offset the front and side screw holes so they do not "collide" when both are used on a 2" post.- Provide an longer spring as an option if you need less tension on the gate latch. I had to use a different spring as the one included required too much force to get the gate to latch.

Just as pictured and a fine gate latch.
Be sure to leave sufficient space for it, about an inch is perfect between the gate and post. The design is such that the latch supports weight of the gate when it is closed which should prolong the life of the gate. This one will outlast many wooden fences.

Installed on round wooden fence post and works flawlessly!
I attached this to a round wooden fence post, had to do a little modification to the post, But it turned out great and holds tight! I purchased stainless lag screws separately and they worked perfectly. Very pleased with the product!
