Door Jamb Pro - 48" Door Frame Reinforcement Strike Plate; Fits 1 3/4" Thick Entry Doors

The Door Jamb Pro is a substantial metal plate that will provide an important improvement in the security of your entry door. With nine screws placed along the unit's length, your door's deadbolt is connected to the strength of the door jamb AND the framing it is connected to.While the sellers have made it relatively straightforward to install, the instructions provided here and in the package do not address some of the complications that will arise in some situations. For example, following is a passage from the product description:"Included are 13 - 3" long Torx screws and the installation drive bit to install them. These screws attach the product to the door frame and they are also used to reinforce the hinges. NOTHING must be removed to install this product. It mounts OVER TOP of the existing door frame (opposite to the hinge side) in about 15-20 minutes on average using just an electric drill."This description will apply if the door jamb is mounted in a wood frame house and there is 3" of wood for the screws to penetrate. However if the door jamb is in a house built of cement block, the screws provided do not fit the task. In that case you may need to use a hammer drill and special fasteners like Tapcon screws to place screws into the cement block.Another situation where installation complications will arise is on a doorway where a glass panel (or "light" as it is referred to by the millwork department) is less than 3" beyond the surface of the the door jamb. In that situation, 3" screws would protrude from the opening of the light, or worse, break the glass.Good product, but consider where you are considering installing it before ordering. Wood, great! Cement block, good, but plan to get different fasteners, and special tools. Near glass, verify the screws won't wreck your glass.

Good quality product. Nice thick steel, professionally powder coated, should last for a very long time. Screws appear to be of solid quality and are much longer than the existing screws. Plate arrived very slightly bent - no big deal. The set most definitely will reinforce your entry door.To install, you will need a corded drill, cordless will be too weak. Installation was very easy and straightforward. After installation, my door didn't quite close. The suggestion on the instruction sheet to slightly tighten the hinge screws worked perfectly. BTW: 4 hinge screws are included.A few suggestions for improvement:- increase the diameter of the countersunk holes to better accomodate slightly off center screws- why not increase the number of screws supplied to better anchor hinges- offer Door Lock Guard on Amazon Prime

My home was broken into (the day I was closing on the home) and the burglar kicked in the door to gain access. If you have a wooden door jam it is very easy to kick in. I purchased this to not only fix the broken door jam, but to add security. I used 3" screws to make sure it was secured to the studs. Fit perfectly and it would take a wrecking ball to get through that door now. Very pleased with the product.

I haven't kick tested this as I'm not going to kick down my own door anytime. The screws that come with it do not sit flush so I used my own 3" screws. It doesn't feel that secure but hopefully I'll never have to find out. I spent less money making my own from 1/4 metal bar stock.

This is very strong and I feel confident in my door frame now that I have installed it. I used 3 inch wood screws. The ones that came with it looked a little questionable to me.

Its a little pricey, but well built and defiantly will help stop someone from kicking in the door. It goes in with 9 big 3 or 4 inch screws (included) which goes into the double 2X4s inside the door frame.
